True art, period. Lilium: the combination of a vocalist and a violinist. Along side the heart warming music comes the abstract artwork depicting the characters and their roles in the story. I sometimes pop the DVD in JUST to hear the opening theme.

The wonderful choral work and orchestral music brings out the most fitting mood for Elfen Lied a song could possibly provide. In addition, listening to it without the opening video still invokes the same feeling of the unfortunate circumstances Lucy is thrust into and the feeling of the anime in general.

There's something really special about this OP - its filled with emotions and tells its own story. Something that most anime fail to have.

A haunting melody that always leaves me in a somewhat melancholic state. And melody's that invoke such strong emotions for me are rare. The visuals don't mean that much to me, but they certainly fit with the atmosphere created by the song. So even though the visual don't jump out as amazing, the song on itself secures it a place high on my top 5.

This song kinda just draws me in, I don't know if its the Ecclesiastical Latin lyrics or something else but this is definitely one of my favorites.

Cowboy Bebop
Tank!

Cool, sexy, slick, chilled... no I'm not talking about my hairstyle but "Tank!" It has been said that an OP can make or break a show and that is no exception in Cowboy Bebop's case. You knew that within the opening 10 seconds that you're watching something special. At the time, it was (and still is) refreshingly original to see an OP with a very strong Jazzy feel to it. Quite simply, "Tank!" is timeless and I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if this appears somewhere in the top 10.

Who CAN'T give credit to Cowboy Bebop for its awesome opening? No matter what OP you think is the best, "Tank!" is the CLASSIEST opening out there. From the song, to the lighting effects, to the pastel color strips and even to the grainy old-anime-quality, "Tank!" exudes absolute style with confidence. And you just gotta give them credit for that.

Big band jazz + Yoko Kanno at the start of her composing prime = one of the most iconic and memorable openings of all time. When these two elements are combined with one of the coolest casts ever in the history of anime, the endearment level jumps up a few notches, further cementing its place among the best. While it isn't the flashiest of openings, the near-minimalistic and noir approach is effective, showing the cast in all their glory (and Spike slipping), ending with an unforgettable fill that's, to this day, unique.

Jazz-punk at its best. One of the reasons why the music of this timeless series is simply one of the best, not just of any anime, but also of ANY series out there. Yoko Kanno at her best, accompanied by some kick-ass animation from the brains of Shinichiro Watanabe and his team.

Ok 3, 2, 1, let's jam! This is such a classic and it's still great after many years. So jazzy you wanna dance, and surprisingly so fitting with the mood of the show. Visually it's getting old, but it's still synchronised. Also all those colors go well with the flow, plus it does its job showing the characters. Love it.
