Shinkansen de Okayama ni Ikimasu!!

The ticket book for my Shinkansen pass. Cute mascot, haha.
Technically we weren't the group heading out the furthest West (the Hiroshima Prefecture people were), but since we in the Okayama Prefecture group all had rural assignments, our travel was technically longer, so we were the first group to leave the training session. While everyone else got to relax on Friday night after we gave our "final exam" demo lessons, our group had to scurrying to pack, cram some food down our throats, check out of our rooms, perform our demo, change our clothes (changing out of a suit in a Japanese bathroom stall is NOT even close to being easy), and then meet with our group for our 4pm departure to catch at 5pm express train into Tokyo to hop on our 6:50pm Shinkansen.
Sweet!!! I get to ride the Shinkansen!!! This was pretty high on my list of "things I must do while in Japan."

My first views of Japan countryside... as we whip by it at 100mph. | Pulling into the world-famous Tokyo Station as the sun sets between the buildings. |

Friday evening crowds clamoring inside Tokyo Station. We're on our way down the Shinkansen Sanyo Line tracks.
All aboard!!! Time to find our assigned-seats. I was supposed to be on the aisle, but the girl in my row hates the window seat, so I was more than happy to trade. | Nozomi #53 Sanyo Shinkansen, Westbound to Fukuoka/Hakata Station, ready for departure! |
