Oh Sheryl. What is there to say? Sheryl Nome will always be my Galactic Fairy. Not only is she a beautiful diva, but she has a strong will and an independent personality. There is a reason why Macross Frontier is so popular this 2008 and a lot of the credit goes to the amazing Sheryl. Long live Sheryl.

Haū! Omochikaerī! Rena is just too cute, so cute that it wouldn't surprise me if she had already tried to take her home herself. Well, personally, I'd try. But there are many cute girls around in anime right? So what makes her a proper contestant for the best anime character ever, kana? kana?? The answer is simple : her cuteness. That's it, but not only that. Her split personality just adds to the moe factor, and easily cause it to reach over 9000! Not only she's naturally cute, but she manages to be even more cute while turning psycho and menacing, brandishing her chopper and shouting "USO DA!!"

Killua is hands down one of the coolest anime characters I've ever seen. Just starting with his looks, he has that "cool guy" look to him. You know what I'm talking about: dark, broody and very aware of everything going on around him. Next we come to his abilities: Super strong, super quick and the finesse of the greatest world-class assassins. Now we have his attitude: He is not some over-confident, narrow-minded prick who is always showing off his powers. Instead, he is focused and realistic in his perceptions and observations of everything around him. He is also very dependable and resourceful. This and more makes Killua the best character ever.

Nagi was unexpectedly added to my list. Despite being from a new series, the hilarity and uniqueness of her character has already caught my attention. From her (bad) puns to her over-zealous obsession with the mahou-shoujo henshin sequence, to her little trick here and there such as feigning split personality and her polite-speech… … almost every gag she pulled made me cracked up and roar with laughter. Indeed, I must say that this popularity contest arrives at a really appropriate time! In short, I just had to vote for this mischievous, crazy but also lovable shrine Goddess. And of course, not to forget Nagi’s little concert in the Opening Theme.

For a series that has a large cast and has been going on for a long time (manga included), it's hard to maintain interest of so many personalities. But as far as plot and evolution of character (hence why I cannot put my favorite gal Hinata on this list for now), I put Shikamaru well above the rest of the secondary cast and even consider him now a main player in the story for taking leadership responsibilities and still maintaining his dry wit. He even hangs out with my second favorite gal on the show, another tough cookie in Temari. He has it all but doesn't let it go to his head.

While the main character is important, there isn't a story without a villain as well. As far as villains go, none fits the role more perfectly than Itachi Uchiha. Cold, calculating, and powerful, Itachi's heartless displays of power make it clear why he is among the most dangerous criminals in the world of Naruto. Growing up, he was considered a genius, leading the special Anbu Black Ops at the age of 13. However, despite being a child prodigy in one of the strongest clans in Konoha, Itachi's lust for power couldn't be satiated so easily. Itachi slaughtered his entire clan and mentally tortured his little brother with the memories of the slaughter, mentally scarring him for life. The better the villain, the better the hero has to be to match up to him, which is why Itachi is one of the greatest characters of all time.

Ginko is a far off, all-knowing figure one minute, the next minute he is completely down to earth and human. It's hard to pin down what exactly is so good about him, all that is obvious is that you fall in love with him after the first few episodes. Plus he looks way cool.
