Remember that first day of high school? How you set your alarm before even the most ambitious of roosters would crow? How you skipped breakfast for fear of getting nervous at the opening ceremony and vomiting? And, how despite the fact that your school had Cold War era blackout window shades, smelly hallways, and desks with foreign substances already stuck to them, everything seemed so shiny and promising?

Well, be prepared for a trip down memory lane as we enter the world of Yui Hirasawa, high school first-year. Yui is energetic, clumsy. She is easily overwhelmed when bombarded by offers from various high school clubs. When a flyer for the Light Music Club catches her eye she decides to join up, remembering how much fun she had when she was much younger playing castanets.
 Even as a kid, Yui stood out.

Little does she know that 'Light Music Club' actually means a pop/contemporary music club that will work towards forming a band. As soon as Yui learns the true meaning of the club, and that it will mean serious work, she rushes to withdraw her application. Unfortunately for her, the club is one member short and will take anyone with a pulse from becoming disbanded. Despite the fact that Yui has never touched a guitar before, the three light music club members ply Yui with snacks and convince her to join the club as their lead guitarist. Now that they have the required amount of members, the only thing holding these four girls back is the fact that none of them can play their instruments very well, or in Yui's case at all.
 Mio, the reserved but sensitive bassist.
Ritsu, the pushy drummer, and de facto band leader.
