07-Ghost

A former orphan and slave, Teito Klein, is now enrolled in the prestigious Barsburg Empire's military academy. He remembers little about his past, and what he can recall comes from his troubling dreams. Teito is the military's rising star due to his rare ability to use zaiphon, or magic. While at the academy, Teito befriends Mikage, and the two promise to help each other at any cost, a promise that may be hard to keep as Teito's shattered past quickly catches up with him.

Sorry all, I dropped this after the first episode. If you're looking for bishies in the standard issue anime military uniform, then this is your show. Otherwise, the lead hero, Teito, is static, and the story doesn't bring a lot to the table. If you're going to have a standard story, then something else needs to be fantastic, i.e. animation or music. The music is nothing memorable and the animation is only so-so.

Outlook: Negative. I'll pass.

Studio Deen… hmm. I’ve heard a lot of complaints from manga readers, so people who read the 07-Ghost manga might not appreciate the anime adaptation. So far there isn’t a very clear story direction, and I don’t really like how the main character is too serious one moment, and the next moment he’s too comical. It hasn’t been very interesting so far and I won’t be continuing this until someone convinces me that it’s good.

Outlook: Mildly Negative, dropped at Episode 3.

Asura Cryin’

Three years after surviving an airplane crash, Tomoharu seems to be living a normal life. Well, it only seems so because there is always a ghost at his side: the friendly Misao, who only he can see.

His life however, changes even more after a friend of his brother's delivers a trunk to him, which suddenly makes him the target of various factions waging and underground war. Urged by her to open the case, Tomoharu and Misao are given control of the Asura Machina, a powerful robot that will be the source of their strength.

Hmmm...this series is odd to say the least. There's a lot going on at once, and none of it is explained very well. The plot itself actually reveals what should be major plot points, but since the reasons are never given, and the characters are undeveloped it's hard to understand, or care, about everything that is going on. I'll continue this show only if I'm exceptionally bored. Exceptionally.

Outlook: Fairly Negative

I’m not particularly enthusiastic about how the story would become more mecha-orientated, but at least I’ve enjoyed the concept of the different faction coming into battle, with each faction having a different kind of power, including magic and android weaponry. The main character’s little growing harem becomes increasingly interesting to watch. The animation and fighting scenes is pretty good, and the character designs are very promising… which I didn’t really expect from Seven Arcs. The story development isn’t very clear in the first few episodes but I think it’ll get better.

Outlook: Good

I haven't got the slightest clue on what's going on in this show. They jump around a bunch without really explaining anything and leaves almost everything in a confusing state. Maybe if they explained more it wouldn't be such a chore watching this and the characters themselves are stereotypical without again explaining anything on what is going on. The confusing style of this show isn't really working for me and I just don't see how this is going to turn into anything interesting. So far we got mecha, light vs dark/good vs evil, harem, school, mafia, devils, ghosts all crammed into one show. I might watch a few more eps just to see if they're going to clarify the things that happened but other than that I'm dropping this show.

Basquash!

Ever since his sister Coco lost the use of her legs, Dan has hated BFB, "basketball" played by the mechas called Big Foots. All he can do about it is smash all the TV screens where it is broadcasted in his town. But after meeting Miuyki and jumping onto a Big Foot himself, Dan finally manages to smash a BFB match, showing just how boring, slow and clumsy the game is... at the cost of one year in jail.

However, as soon as Dan steps out of Jail he finds that his performance has popularized the game, and that now he is regarded as a legend in it, which might be the one opportunity he has to realize his dream of going to the Moon...

Basket with giant robots, weirdly enough it's more entertaining that I thought it would be. Whether it's Dans idiotic side or all the smooth and fancy moves they pull out it's all good fun. This feels like a good show in contrast to the other shows of this season as it's something to just kick back and enjoy without anything special as it have a nice balance to it.

I have always been hesitant to watch sports series involving any sport other than baseball. It's just harder to illustrate other sports, especially basketball. Basquash however, has done a good job so far. Basquash doesn't really do anything new or better than any other series, but I like it so far. The series seems to be pretty straight forward. I look forward to seeing more.

Outlook: Somewhat Positive
