Whisper of the Heart

A classic Miyazaki tale about finding romance and yourself that we can all relate to. The movie's feel and music choice of Take Me Home, Country Road really pulls me in.

Ah! My Goddess: The Movie
JackGrover
Even though this anime and manga have been ongoing for a long time, somehow the creators find a way to keep it all fresh and interesting. Yes, the girls are cute, yes each personality is unique, yes the artwork is great but best of all is the underlying message each episode brings. Even with this movie, the message was as strong as everything else.

A superb addition to the 'Goddess' universe, this movie encapsulates all that was great about the shows and escalates it to a whole other level. World-class animation/production, brilliantly atmospheric soundtrack, excellent voice-acting (Belldandy is as sweet as always) with a story that is more mature and adventurous than the TV shows. A proud member of my anime collection!

Eureka Seven: Pocket ga Niji de Ippai
Ranik
Breaking Boundaries on how far to go for the person you love. Seeing how we all misunderstand each other at times. Eureka Seven, when the anime series came out it was really good and really blew people away. The movie set in a kinda alternate reality yet still follows the story in its own way. Truly is a must watch. Well paced and just enough time to satisfy you (if you call nearly 3 hours of film just enough or maybe too much is up to you). This movie can really move you and is a must watch. The question is "How far are you willing to go for your loved ones?" Just watch it Dood.

A great re-imagining of a created universe that has a nostalgic yet fresh-like feel at the same, not to mention a great "fated lovers" story and all those secondary and behind-the-stage stories.

Appleseed
Xi-1
'Appleseed' gets my first vote for this round for its characters and character development as the plot thickens. Who does not appreciate an attractive woman who can also kick butt alongside her android partner. The whole bioroid-human conflict lends itself to the theme of Humanity and questioning its limits to much the same tune as Asimov's 'The Positronic Man,' yet in beautifully rendered CG. Finally, for story elements, 'Appleseed' has some comedy, more romance, and even more action. If there is anything about which to complain, it is that the movie ends too soon. That is why I can appreciate the sequel, even if 'Ex Machina' is not a stand-alone movie because the background itself comes from this movie. That is why the original gets the vote here.

Zezzler
A very interesting anime style to take on, combining anime and CGI. It tells an interesting futuristic story and keeps true to anime big eyes ;)
