Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion
Lightningcount12
End of Evangelion is a great compliment to one of the greatest anime series. There are many ways to interpret this movie, leading it to have great re-watch value. Hideaki Anno, Production I.G. and Studio GAINAX really did well in creating gruesome hand-to-hand and mecha action for the first half, and then psychedelic scenery for the second half. The soundtrack is also one of my favorites that I listen to still today. A great movie that resolves many questions, and creates more debate.

After the confusing ending in Evangelion, all fans got blessed with this movie. Not only does it please everybody, and unlike most anime films based in series that are just trying to cash in a little more, this one gives an amazing alternate ending to the series with lots of jaw dropping moments never to be forgotten!

It is because of this movie that I watch anime today. The brutality of the fights and the intriguing story kept me looking for something similar.

This is the movie that got me hooked on manga. The best pure 1.5 hr of anime I can imagine. Epic battles and an epic swordsman... what's not to love

My Neighbor Totoro

My Neighbor Totoro has my vote for the best anime movie of all time because I believe it is the best anime movie of all time. I saw this movie over a decade ago, when it first came out. Years later, I stumbled upon the VHS in the movie store and bought it, remembering how much I loved the movie years ago. Also, I have friends who absolutely hate anime but will go to lengths to find a tape of the original dub of this movie (it took them two years to find it) because they love it that much. This movie is a movie for everyone, and it deserves to be on the list.

This is simplicity in its best. My Neighbor Totoro is an anime movie that is unique in its rejection of a plot or narrative objectives. You just view and enjoy Miyazaki unraveling his imagination. If not for anything else, this movie deserves merits for Mei, the most realistic, believable, and lovable little girl on screen history.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Conqueror of Shambala
Xi-1
It may not be able to stand alone from the series, but then it is not supposed to. This is an excellent full-length feature ending for the series that sets out to accomplish and fulfill the many promises that were set out during the anime. What's more, we get the same quality of animation and vocal talents that we have come to expect of 'FMA.' Seeing things conclude in the same style in which the story was always told proves the production team's devotion to the work. Instead of trying to be a stand-alone, 'Conquerer of Shambala' proves the need for the rest of the 'FMA' series. Well done!

I've seen movies that will be remembered more, that had a better plot, or were more moving. But the fact is, this movie simply delivered more relevant information than any series based movie I've ever seen. 90% of anime movies you can watch them or not, it won't matter later because by the movie is too self contained. In this move important things happened to real characters. People died. The plot changed. The movie itself actually mattered.
