Spirited Away

This movie is incredibly sweet. Only Hayao Miyazaki could make a tale about a kid in a bath house this entertaining. It tickled the innocent part of me that misses kid movies.

The theme, the way they have expressed it and, of course, the wonderfully displayed story and characters in the art ^_^ I've seen many movies and this one is the best by far.

Spirited away was, I think (not counting Pokemon) the first anime film I've ever seen. How to sum it up...? Weird, intriguing, weird? Did I say weird? Well, yes, weird. What captured my attention, I don't even know. It was like one of those Disney fairy tales but a thousand times more interesting. The fact that I didn't quite understand the story the first few times around only made it more fun to watch again. Haku is one of my favorite characters ever, and memorizing the Japanese title (Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi) without knowing any Japanese was just a good laugh. Spirited away is one of those films that make it hard to say *what* I like about it, but that I like it is certain.

Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo

This is a charming tale of romance, friendship and the dangers of playing with time. All characters in Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo and particularly the protagonist are very easy to relate to and it makes you wonder what to do with the power to travel back in time. The story may also make you rethink your notions of friendship and relationships in general. Don't miss this excellent movie.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time has perhaps one of those most cliche and tired premises--time travel. The reason I am voting for it is because it has sublime execution of such an idea--the direction is superb; it is innovative and entertaining. The pacing is excellent, whenever I felt a scene had become somewhat stale, it shifted into a new and unexpected direction. The animation is topnotch rounding it out as simply amazing. While many anime movies had failed to really entrance me, The Girl Through Leapt Through Time lived up to my expectations with flying colors--and given who recommended to me, I had fairly high expectations and gladly added to my collection.

The animation is very pleasing which of course is a must, but outside of that it just has a good style of storytelling. The slow pace is supported by the absorbing nature of the story that allows for a slow unfold of great present

The storyline is not too complicated, i really like the drawing style, the main character is so freakin awesome and cute at the same time, and the ending was acceptable. Some movies have their storyline so complicated that it is hard to follow and no one likes a horrible ending, but this movie has it all!
