Honestly, the first time I heard this song, I kinda hated it. I almost hit the "delete" button on the download copy I had, but for whatever reason, I kept it around. After reading AJtheFourth's review of it, I decided to check out the first episode. Seeing the song paired with its animation, it made a bit more sense and felt more right. It has a fast beat, but it's a low-key, relaxing song. Before I knew it, this particular song reached the Top 25 of my "most-played" list meaning I have been a lot fonder of it than I actually realized.
Pick #9
"Tomadoi Bitter Tune" by Miran Himemiya, Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu OP
The story with this song is actually the opposite to above. When I first heard it, I was instantly in love with it, listening to it perhaps 5 or 6 times a day. Now I'm kinda "meh" about it, yet I still just can't say "no" to it. So why put it on this list? Well, it IS a good song. Very well-done for its genre, especially when coupled with the animation for the show. And again, it launched itself in my "most-played" list pretty quickly, which means that even though the novelty has worn off, it still has a place on my Favorites list.
Pick #8
"Katayoku no Tori" by Akiko Shikata, Umineko no Naku Koro ni OP
Perhaps the most unique song in my music library, I was probably about 7 or 8 episodes into the series before I even decided to go searching for this online. I was curious about the full-version of it, and once I heard it, I couldn't put it down. It fits the show so perfectly... it has that epic gothic eeriness to it that works even when not paired with its beautiful animation sequence.
