"Kimi no Uta" by Abingdon Boys School, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 OP
Much like it's #8 counterpart, this was another song I didn't get curious enough about the full-version until I was deep into the show. I kinda regret not getting into it sooner since this is such an energetic song. It conveys that panic sense of "Tokyo is burning!!" that just makes you want to leap up and rescue someone. This should be the theme song to the Tokyo Fire Department, heh heh.
Pick #6
"Pre-Parade" by Rie Kugimiya, Toradora! OP1
Honestly, this was a very difficult decision, as all the music from Toradora! is A+, but in the end, I chose the one that originally got me hooked. This is the fastest song I've heard performed vocally, which just amps the energy. The animation sequence is interesting to watch, especially as I feel it captures the mood of the series so well.
Pick #5
"Don't Say Lazy" by Yoko Hikasa, K-On! ED
Of course this song would show up on this list; it's only like THE most popular song of the last year. The music of K-On! is exceptionally wonderful (the OP, "Cagayake! Girls" also belongs in this spot). A lot of people are giving a lot of flac to the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya 2 for being a "K-On!-copycat," but let's keep in mind that MOHS's "God Knows" still holds the title of Most Epic Anime Music Performance. Given that the story of this series revolves around 4 girls trying to give a stellar performance at their school festival, I couldn't help but think the whole time "will it be better than 'God Knows'?" Though OST-insert "Fudapen ~ Ballpen" was worthy, it still pales to "God Knows." Ironically, I still think fans perfer ED "Don't Say Lazy" as their choice-song from this series, as it's definitely the better song.
