Animation: Madhouse does a very good job with the character designs in this series, as well as the background detailing. It's a bit simpler than other series this year, but not bad, and very suitable. 82/100
Story: Every episode has the power to leave you feeling refreshed and optimistic! It seems like a basic 'one-heart-per-episode' formula. However, there is also a slower, underlying plotline that has just begun to develop to keep viewers hooked. Based on past CLAMP stories, viewers should expect the story to only deepen as the series progresses. 87/100
Characters: Kobato is wonderfully cute, and you can't help but root for her despite her lack of common sense. Ioryogi is brash and gruff, but never annoying as the 'stuffed toy sidekick.' Side characters Sayaka-sensei and Fujimoto seem to be next in line for some more character development, and Kobato herself still remains a mystery. 88/100
Music: Maaya Sakamoto returns to the Madhouse/CLAMP combination to sing 'Magic Number,' the irresistibly catchy opening. Then ending, 'Jellyfish no Kokuhaku' reflects the more serious side of the series. 81/100
Overall: Kobato is a cute and energetic series that has shown flashes of having incredible potential and depth. It's definitely worth watching. 85/100
Recommended: For anyone looking for a sweet show to cheer themselves up! Barring a ridiculous plot-twist (this is CLAMP's story so that actually could happen) Kobato will cheer you up with it's energy and enthusiasm just like the titular character herself.
Not Recommended: This is a feel-good story with a gigantic cute factor that could be overwhelming for some viewers, particularly those who hate shoujo or magical girl series.
