How can you not love an anime where the sooo cute heroine first meets the hero in front of the White House, while he is stark naked and waving a gun. Just remember, it was cold out :)

I think Eden of the East is the most unique anime I've watched in a long time! And it pulls the uniqueness fantastically! The characters were adorable and lovable, the plot very interesting and as everyone else agrees I'm sure, the attention to background details was beautiful! Only drawback is.. why did they only make 12 episodes?! Instead of making two movie sequeals, they should've just continued on TV.. cause now I gotta wait to watch the rest! :(

In Eden of the East, a very interesting question is asked. How do you save a country? It's a vague question that will make you think about what you consider the ideal society. Twelve people are given this question along with a huge sum of money and they must find a solution. Despite being only 11 episodes long, Eden of the East deals with many aspects including: economics, politics, health care, crime and other social issues. I have no doubt it is the most creative story of 2009. Unfortunately, there is no conclusion and we'll have to wait for the 2 upcoming movies. The characters are also great, particularly the protagonist Akira. I love his easy-going attitude, cleverness and talent for improvisation. The show wouldn't be half as good without him. For me, Eden of the East is the best anime of 2009.

I heard many good things about Eden of the East before I started watching it but based on its synopsis I had doubts as to whether or not I would enjoy a series whose story description was similar to "The Bourne Identity". My worries did not last long, however, as before even the first episode was completed I was sitting on the edge of my seat in anticipation as to what would happen next. And it wasn't the action of this series which kept your attention but rather the intense and well thought out story which leaves you with a feeling of wanting more after every episode. The art style for this series also surprised me as it strayed away form your "classic" character designs and yet it made the characters appear more human which only adds the drama as you fell that this series could have been a live action and still do well (well, that is if any live actions could ever do well this would be it IMO). So all in all, amazing story, great characters, interesting art style, and catchy intro/ending and you have my #1 anime for the 2009 year.
