Sayings regarding time are so numerous that one can probably think of at least three oft-used clichés by the time they finish reading this sentence. Time has the power to fade memories and feelings, as well as the power to intensify them to an obsessive degree. Our perception can make the passage of time stretch like an eternity, or fly by too quickly. It’s as unforgiving as it is an ally, and it depends on your unique situation whether time is going to help or harm you. The one thing that is certain about time, is that it passes, no matter what our feelings are.

Only six months have passed, but for Saki, and the rest of Japan, these months have seemed like years, in light of all that has changed. Takizawa has disappeared, leaving only a short message for Saki on his Selecao phone, which she now has. Now known as the person who helped save the country from those 60 missiles, Takizawa's image has been iconized across Japan as the Air King. Following the missile attacks, Japan has lost its standing as an economic superpower in the global economy. Within the country, there’s a sense of cautious optimism, but the threat of an inheritance tax looms over the post-college and NEET demographics.

A NEET no more, Kazuomi Hirasawa now heads up the Eden of the East Corporation, as its key role in thwarting the missile attacks skyrocketed the group’s once small social networking site. This is where Saki currently works, along with Ohsugi, Micchon, and the rest of the ragtag NEET group that developed Eden of the East. Along with developing Eden into a legitimate company, Hirasawa has used Eden’s resources, along with Panties's and Micchon’s excellent computer hacking skills, to keep tabs on all Selecao activity.

Saki, meanwhile, has focused her efforts on finding Takizawa. She follows his hint that he’d be waiting at the place where it all began, but when she travels to Washington D.C., she finds nothing. Struck by a new thought, and with the online support of Hirasawa and the Eden of the East crew from Japan, the film opens with Saki traveling to New York City in a last ditch effort to find Takizawa.
