Final Scoring Summary

Animation: Barring that one small hiccup towards the end of the movie, the animation for The King of Eden is amazing. Those who loved the animation of the series will not be disappointed. 97/100

Characters: The King of Eden is a successful movie thanks to the chemistry of its characters. Saki and Takizawa are just as charming as they were in the original series, and the supporting cast of the Eden group is fun to watch. 98/100

Story: This movie does a decent job of creating a fated romance between Saki and Takizawa, but does little else to advance the plot until the last few scenes. Viewers expecting the action and suspense of the series will be disappointed. 73/100

Music: The music is okay; however compared to the animation, it's the weakest part of the production values. The opening uses a large amount of Engrish sentence structure which could turn some fans off. (Pronunciation is spot-on though). In contrast, the voice acting continues to be fantastic, especially with the minor American characters. 80/100

Overall: King of Eden is much more of a romance plot than an action movie. Some may wish that it had included a more equal balance of both genres, but it's not a bad movie, by any means. 85/100

Recommended: For anyone who loved the Eden of the East television series.

Not Recommended: For anyone who hasn't seen the original show, this movie could actually stand on its own and be decent. You may be a bit confused though, so watch the television series first.
