Staff Interview - Chikage Shampoo

Please introduce yourself

Hi there - I'm Chikage. Anime-Source Review Team member, and member of the site since 2002.

Do you go by any other alias? Do you have any nicknames?

I used to call myself "Ren Yin" on this site, and REN on others, but I havenít been using that alias that much.

Where do you live?

Good ol' Delaware (urbaners, don't judge! Okay, I get a bit defensive - I tend to get a lot of "...oh." when I say the state I'm from (: ).

Ninjas or Pirates?

Eeeeep. Pirates, sorry. There are just way too many ninja references flying around - getting a bit tired of the "You just got ninja'd!" or a variation of that I keep hearing.

What's your favourite colour?

At the moment, it's orange, or yellow, or orange-yellow. But in the past it's been everything from silver to green, so I doubt that this will stay around for very long.

What's your favourite animal?

My favorite animal has been the giraffe, but for some odd reason, I have a very big collection of pigs in my room (OK - not for some reason, but I honestly can't say why I started collecting them). The pigs overtook too much of my room and Iíve had to reorganize everything several times, at least, just to have enough space. Just recently I got the idea of putting all the stuffed ones on the top of my bookshelf - something I should've done long ago.

Do you have any pets?

Lots and lots of fish (: .

How would others describe you?

People usually say I'm quirky, or weird, or really quiet and shy - I think it depends on how much youíve gotten to know me, or what mood I'm in at the time.

Outside of anime, what other hobbies interest you?

I play piano, sing, and write creatively. Another thing I really love doing is reading aloud children's books.

Darth Vader bobblehead

Do you frequent any other websites or forums?

After 8-Bit Theater ended, I haven't been frequenting any other sites.

Your username, Chikage Shampoo, any particular reason for choosing that as your net alias?

I think in 2002 (when I joined this site), I was watching Sister Princess and Ranma 1/2, and so pulled two - uh - names from the series. I don't even think I liked Shampoo from Ranma that much. So it goes.

What's the most geekiest thing about you?

Is this geeky or just plain weird? I randomly skip around, talk to myself, or start singing spur-of-the-moment, especially when I'm happy.

What is the most geekiest thing that you own?

Santa Darth Vader, I guess? I was given it for a gift last Christmas. And as a bobblehead its head is very wobbly. (:

How did you find Anime-Source?

My brother saw the site (I guess in its beginnings?) in 2002. For some odd reason I just kept visiting.

How did you become a staff member?

Um...I got an invitation in my PM box to join the team by Yebyosh in 2005. That's about it.

What sort of things do you do at A-S?

Um...that's a tough question. Sometimes I help with new releases. And I write some blog articles and reviews for the database. Recently, I've been posting some front page stuff as well.

I'm one of those minions that look at your news submissions and reviews and STUDD whenever they come in. And, if you're a fan of our Facebook page (are you?), then I'm the one who makes all those annoying / way-too-excited updates.

I can't think of anything else, but I guess I help out if there's anything else needed. Doesn't sound too reassuring, does it?

What are you currently watching? (anime, TV, etc...)

Right now? I'm watching Amagami SS and High School of the Dead. I'm also looking forward to all of the Break Blade movies.

In terms of TV, I have just discovered The Big Bang Theory, which for some odd reason I love to bits. There's just something about that nerdy awkwardness that gets to me.

I'm still following How I Met Your Mother, but that last season was a tad deterring. I don't know.

What are some of your all-time favourite anime, manga, dramas, movies?

Nodame Cantabile is definitely up there in terms of anime. As for manga, I really love Kodocha and maybe Fruits Basket (though I like Kodocha much more - it's just, shall I say, charming and fun and happy (: ). For a while, I really liked the Berserk manga as well, although I haven't read it in a while. Perhaps I shall take it up again?

The first movies that come to mind are My Sassy Girl and Good Will Hunting.

Kodomo no Omocha

What does your room look like?

Lots of piggies and books. That's about it.

Do you have any final messages, comments, etc?

(: Submit lots of reviews, keep checking up on the blogs.
