As another take on the battle royale theme, Mirai Nikki follows twelve prospective gods in their efforts to eliminate one another. The one left standing will become the successor to Deus Ex Machina, the god of time and space.

The ring of participants.

How the participants are chosen:
Each participant needs only one item: a "diary," in the loosest of terms. This may come in the form of a scroll, a picture book, or even a cell phone. They do not have to record personal events. Nevertheless, before the competition even began, these diary holders wrote some type of content consistently in their diaries.
Some may not even have the desire to become god. But, c'est la vie. They are already part of the competition, and must stay lest they be killed by other players.

A telling example of dying when one's diary is destroyed.

The rules:
Participants can be eliminated in two different ways:
1) Be killed. The regular spiel has guns, darts, poison, and bombs. But a Death Note would probably come in real handy in this series.
2) Have the diary destroyed. This makes the owner disintegrate into pixels of nothingness.
Now that you've familiarized yourself, let's move on.
