Sure the main character, Ganta, was pretty annoying at times, but the interesting abilities of the prisoners, the gory action scenes and the captivating plot made it enjoyable to watch. Not for the faint hearted though!

I am not gonna lie, I saved a spot in my top 5 for Denpa Onna just for this survey, from the moment I saw I fell in love with the lovely Erio, and if you mix a great animation with that OP you get a place in my top list of anime for 2011.

This is Shaft at its finest. Along with the usual "moe" you expect from Shaft, Denpa Onna offers an excellent slice of life with great character interactions. This series is mostly about the relationships between the characters so it is no surprise that the main cast is kind of quirky. Their quirkiness is what gives them their charm, but they are also grounded in reality so the characters are not overbearing. The main character, Makoto, in particular needs to be mentioned. He stands out from so many other protagonist in this kind of genre. He talks on the phone with girls, he jokes around, he has worries, he has things that he likes, and we constantly hear his opinion on things because he monologues all the time. Makoto is portray so well, despite being a normal guy, that he is very likable and that can't be said with many other protagonist.

A mystery anime that is "once you start, you can't stop". The solving of difficult mystery cases surrounding fortune telling and historical events makes this a thrilling anime.

Maybe one of the more undervalued series of the year, Gosick is not grand. In fact, the storytelling is a bit dull and not a whole lot of surprises, until the very end. When the world moves into chaos, it really hit me to appreciate those uneventful yet peaceful days. It is a series that could not do as well any shorter or longer. If nothing else, the best storytelling pace of the year. Of course, the soundtrack did the story justice.

Baka to test was a great anime to watch. The anime was all around, every episode funny and had a flow that you could not keep track of. The complete randomness of the show made it impossible to predict which kept me guessing and watching. The characters had there own unique personality which made them all mash together well, showing different opinions and ideals. I also enjoyed the little love triangle between three of the characters which added more suspense. All in all I rate this anime 10/10 and would look forward to watch a new season of it. PS. I think the funniest part that I saw in this anime was Hideyoshi and the dilemma of weather he was a "girl" as the characters seemed to think he was.

This was my second favorite anime of 2011. Funny with good action scenes. I am definitely waiting for a second season.

Naku
Harem, mecha, action and stunning animation make this one of my top picks. Enjoyable for those who want mindless entertainment while having enough subtleties for those who want detail.
