The female leader of a magic association, with the purpose of maintaining balance in the world, is tricked and left stranded on an island in the middle of nowhere. By using a message in a bottle she manages to make contact with a boy that's desperately searching for his sister's killer. Together they form a pact; In return for helping her stop the conspirators of the association she promises to help the boy find the killer he's looking for. Fate plays a roll and it turns out that the killer's tracks point to the same association that he's now trying to stop.
Outlook: I can see plot twists coming from a mile away, but I can't figure out what exactly is going to happen and that keeps me on edge for the next episode.

If you asked me wether or not I like Zetsuen no Tempest the answer would be yes. As for why, I'm not sure. It's somewhat dragged out and slow despite some action scenes here and there. The characters are interesting enough though, Yohino being depicted mostly as a normal person dragged into the mess of a civil dispute in a magic clan, the thing is the show hints every here and there that he's not quite normal not as in he's a super magician in disguise rather that he's not quite right in the head. Mashiro on the other hand is far more straight forward as he simply care about one single thing and that's finding the person who murdered his little sister no matter the what the cost. Ohh and then there's Hakase the world strongest magician stranded on a deserted island where she can't use any magic. Yeap... it's good enough to keep watching though I'm a bit worried that the show might be a bit too short

For some reason, this show reminded me of King of Thorn - I don't know why.
I found that this anime felt really slow-paced with so much going on ironically. It must have been the atmosphere they set because I couldn't find myself fully engaged in the story. There is a good chunk of magic (but it's not fantastical) and action (mostly guns it seems). Also, it seems to be based around Mashiro's drive for revenge.
I like how the main characters aren't the usual archetypes; for example, Mashiro seems pretty abrasive and Yoshino may be a little too quiet. While the characters are attractive looking and the action was enticing, overall, I'm not too interested in continuing this. I mean, I tried to finish the 2nd episode, I just couldn't.
Outlook: Fair
