Final Analysis
So let me get this straight: you all want thought-provoking, action-packed, fantasy-driven comedies with tons of cute girls, a soundtrack that gets you movin', maybe some mechs and a touch of death? Well, I don't think I can do it in one swing, but hey, that's why we don't have to watch just one anime. 2006 had a lot to offer the anime community and as we see by looking at these final results, fans of all genres had something to make them happy.
It was surely no surprise to anyone that The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya took the top position, but what may come as a shocker was that it almost didn't. It jumped out to an early lead, but even before the halfway point of the voting period had been reached, Death Note took a healthy lead and kept it for quite some time. It was late in the game that the SOS Brigade picked up the momentum it needed to excel into the top spot with well over 800 votes. Death Note fans don't need to feel disappointed though; the 842 votes it managed to ring up still highly dominated over third-place Ouran High School Host Club's astonishing 470 votes. The race stayed tight all the way down to the end where even those series teetering on the edge earned a respectable 7 votes. Hey, if there are at least 7 people out there who treasure all these series so much, that's a good sign for the industry.
It's a good sign for Anime-Source.com as well. The staff and myself are happy and excited to put on these surveys for our members and visitors. We enjoy asking the fans these surveys to gauge who/what is popular these days and we appreciate all the input. Many great comments were submitted, too, making it hard to narrow down finalists in many cases. So a special thanks to all who participated. I hope you've all enjoyed this survey as much as I have. Expect to see its return next year as well as the addition of other surveys in this series.
A round of applause goes to staff members Leoxjm, Himitsu and v-boi2002 for being especially active in assisting me with deciding on general rules, sorting through results, gathering screencap images, and proofreading the code. Thanks guys, your assistance really helped out, I'm glad to have you on our team.
Thanks again to everyone, please leave comments ^___^
