Tsubasa Chronicle: Second Season

April * 26 Episodes * Animax

Anonymous
A continuation of my love for Syaoran and Sakura.... yet it gave me different tastes from CCS. This anime offers a more mature side of Syaoran and Sakura that didn't happen in the bright, cheerful CCS. Of course, sometimes it makes me kind of sad about the plot of this anime and about its characters. One wants to recover the love of his life no matter what the cost, one proves his love for his homeland (unknowingly) and wishes to return, but another want to leave his past behind. This anime has affect me greatly with its happy and sad points that sometime leave a mark within the viewers.

Lomie
Enchanting story and great characters, CLAMP never fails and this is one of their best.

You gotta love this anime. Romance, Comedy, Action...ITS ALL HERE!! The character development is good. It tells you alot of stuff but not enough for you to guess what happens next. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. THE BATTLES ARE AMAZING AND THE MUSIC IS AWESOME!

iceyicey
Sweet, loving, heart-wrenching. Great anime!

Inukami!

April * 26 Episodes * Starchild

Evangelion_unit3
This is an anime that breaks all the limits. Being completely over the top with perverted comedy, it is unlike any anime that has come before it. It's hard not to sit through an episode and burst out laughing. It's a refreshing series that has no angst and is rarely serious (and when it is, it still manages to be hilarious). If you're tired of the same old dark animes and mopey protagonists and just want to laugh your ass off, look no further than Inukami.

Firetears
One of 2006's most underrated series. The characters are so colorful and full of life, this is one of the few comedies that get you hooked on the first episode.

insomniac1970
If you like hilarious romantic action comedies, then look no further than Inukami!. It is one of the funniest series that I have ever seen with just enough action and romance to make me happy.

xenocrisis0153
It's been such a long time since I've seen an anime that's just pure fun. There's no intricately detailed plot, there's no big message, there's no hidden meanings... just comedy, action and cute girls. The cast is engaging and the randomness of the humor always has me wanting more. Plus, I can't get enough of Youko!!

Busou Renkin

October * 26 Episodes * XEBEC/Shueisha

BananaTyrant
I like this anime because it has all the things I enjoy in an anime. Action, a touch (or more) of impossibility, comedy, and animation that doesn't look like the animators were more worried about getting an episode out on time than in its quality.

wufeichang
Not a big advertised-in-your-face series of 2006, Busou Renkin provides a good balance of humour, action and suspense. Through the constant jokes, exaggerated expressions and some cheesy character designs, the laughs are complimented well with the depth of current world problems explored through unconventional means. A balanced entertainment that provides the nutrients shows are meant to give, hearty laughs and deep thoughts.

Xi-1
Watsuki's done it again, this time with more humour than the seriousness that we saw in RuroKen. Kazuki's positive and all-in attitude balences that of the other charcters quite nicely. Anime based on Watsuki's work seem to follow the manga quite closely, which is a welcome change. Watsuki also knows when to end the series without going 'ad nausium' (which makes RuroKen's anime ending somewhat shameful). I have high hopes for BuRe to continue in the same spirit as it has been -- with perhaps a few more RuroKen references, and maybe a connection or two, although Kazuki learning Mitsurugi or Kasshin would be a bit much. All of the characters are well created and have the room and opportunity to develop, as the ones in RuroKen did. Here's to the future of Busou Renkin!

leoxjm
Although Busou Renkin scores low on originality, it is actually a very fun show to watch with lots of comedy and some action. Although the action part could use some work, BR's characters, easy to follow storyline and the laughs it brings really give the show a lot of watching value.

Negima!?

October * 26 Episodes * Shaft

RaydZero
I consider this remake of Negima as a very refreshing approach to the series by centering the plot more on fighting scenes while at the same time maintaining the comical side of the show that characterizes the Negima series, even without a deep character development. The artwork is simply beautiful and the music doesn't step behind.

JiraiyatheEroSennin
Ah, Negima, a boy teacher in an all-girls school. I really like the visual side of the remake and the music. Plot has also changed and is now more interesting. It is a funny show with lots of turns and twists. Maybe not for people who want to find some serious plot but a perfect choice if you want to laugh and have fun while watching it.

V16Dragon
A darker, more serious Negima is what compels us to watch on.

Xi-1
Negi's back in this more serious rendition of a story that gets used many times thereafter (child prodigy teaches those who are older). This series gets some serious respect for staying closer to the manga, for staying serious, and not for focusing on the (imagined?) sex appeal of junior high school students. The spell incantations are cleaner than in the previous series, and the Pactio Cards are included, making for greater variety. The focus on Negi and Eva makes for a far more interesting story, along with the power struggle for Negi to become as powerful as Nagi. The only question is what happened to Asuna's different-coloured eyes. Perhaps Negima?! doesn't include Asuna's pact with the demons.

xxxHolic

April * 24 Episodes * Production I.G.

Winged_Gardy
It is not by chance that xxxHoLiC is a great show, it is hitsuzen. Folk tales, urban legends, philosophy, and good humor; all of these elements give a more in-depth view of the Japanese culture. "May I grant your wishes?"

Ghostalker
xxxHolic is kinda weird if you ask me. Why? Probably because this is the only anime I've watched so far to include moral lessons in almost per episode basis. What makes xxxHolic one of the better anime of 2006? Just as what I said above, it's the values that they teach their viewers, it may not have a definite plot but it makes up with its good humor and of course it's rather unique style of animation... A Plus Factor: You will see Yuko in different dress design every episode!

reddrake
Not everyone's cup of tea, but I really liked this show as well. The characters are what make it one of my favorite series. The art style though somewhat halting at first.. grew on me. Certainly in my personal Top 5.

DarkReality
Up for a chill down your spine? I wasn't. At times I got chills down my spine and found myself hiding underneath the bedsheets. But at least there were times in the anime that were funny so I liked it very much~ I also liked how the characters were drawn so tall... like model legs... and it grows on you over time.

KIBA

April * 41+ Episodes * Madhouse Productions/Studio Live

HiroAyami
KIBA has everything a fantasy lover could enjoy: comedy, a brooding hero who wants to do good (or at least what he thinks is right), kick ass weapons, and big-assed spirits fighting alongside humans and other such creatures. To me, this series basically has it all, and despite the occassional long-drawn section, episodes have a definite replay value.

Magic, summons and swords. That´s all you need in a good anime series . The characters are cool as well, so this is my best anime series of 2006!

Anonymous
This is one that has a lot of good pieces. Even if on the whole it is not breaking new ground, it's a ton of fun to watch. There's magic, fighting, a mysterious plot involving multiple countries, lots of interesting characters (although sometimes stereotypical). Plus there's a good mix of humor tossed in.

Butane9000
KIBA had a very weird beginning, and also throughout the entire series it seems odd. Yet, it all fits and is intruiging at the same time. I like it and have been following its releases since episode one. Seems like its going to end in a little while, which is a shame, but nevertheless it's a good series.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni

April * 26 Episodes * Studio DEEN

TomWorth
"Creepy" doesn't even begin to describe Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. By grouping each twisted story together in 3-5 episode clumps, this is a very easy series to plow through (although it is quite disturbing). The entire series you are left wondering "what the heck is going on?" It's nice to see a series that is ACTUALLY scary and entertaining. I'd recommend this series to anybody (as long as you don't scare too easily).

Anonymous
Very exciting and killer (literally) storyline, good combination of cuteness and insanity, great characters and development. I enjoyed every episode and couldn't wait for the next one to come out every week. Can't wait for the second season to come out.

RaydZero
This anime mixes perfectly the concepts that it tries to show during the length of the series. Every element from the dialogue, the music, and the artwork fits so perfectly this horror anime that even if it has a weird approach with the flow of the episodes it always maintains its deep storyline, accompanied with some fun.

Anonymous
Interesting premise and an impressive execution of a multi-view story. Often scary and disturbing. At times nice comedy which is able to fool the viewer before taking a 180° turn straight into hell. This anime has everything one could expect from a horror flick and an actually deep plot above of it all.

Hellsing Ultimate OVA

February * 3+ Episodes * Geneon

Expression
Simply put, this OVA washes away the bad taste the original series left in our collective mouths. Hellsing Ultimate is cooler, far bloodier, and raunchier than we've known. It truly is "Ultimate" in every sense of the word.

Anonymous
Hellsing Ultimate brings the viewer into a darker world, where the good guy is only the lesser evil. Terribly exaggerated in almost every way, Hellsing Ultimate still manages to capture the viewers attention as not a soul is spared from this bloody onslaught of insanity. It's an acquired taste.

thegreatsaiya
I really enjoy the story and the animation. Is in it's own way amazing. I really enjoy watching Alucard acting the way he does and his dry wit.

Faebinder
The story is exciting... the animation has been tremendously improved. The danger aspect of this anime is vibrant to the point of visibility in the story. The bad and good guys are intermixed. What more can you ask from a complex horror story?
