If your into action/thriller series, Gantz, Evangelion and Inu Yasha are all pretty good. If your into comedy/romances then I've always enjoyed stuff like Love Hina, Ranma 1/2, Full Metal Panic, etc.

Personality flaws aside, I always thought some of these were cutey drawn:
