Hmmmm, i think the show is going to settle down now.
Now that Roy seems to have accepted Solty, and shes a registered bounty hunter. I think we'll now have a few episodes in a row of Roy and solty performing bounty hunter work. Of course there will probably be random appearances by the bubblegum cirsis squad and that thief family

Kudos to stokerino for acknowledging the Knight Sabers influence in the series. I know this topic is concerning Solty Rei, but i really have to give a thumbs up to Stokerino's tentative review on the series. *Thumbs Up* Man!

Much appreciated, byrc. This series is second only to Mai-Otome as my favourite of the latest batch of anime releases. I have the feeling that I'm going to enjoy Roy beating the crap out of Yute (the Resemble engineer) at every given opportunity...

And is "I'd like to see their parents..." Roy's catchphrase now? >_>

Anyway. I have my two top theories on probable plot swerves concerning Solty and Roy:

1. Solty IS Roy's daughter, or at least used to be. Her creators got to her after the 'Blast Fall' at their HQ, and in some way used her as a basis for the Solty Resemble (personality transplant, possibly - without her memories would also explain her natural affinity for Roy). Ahh...heartwarming, is it not?

or the one I prefer and think is more likely:

2. Solty CAUSED the Blast Fall incident, thus killing (maybe, though probably not) Roy's daughter. Oh, the anguish! Oh, the pain Roy will go through, just after almost accepting Solty as a new daughter of his own! Oh, the drama Solty will suffer as she has no memory of the incident! Angst, people! ANGST!

I'd say your first conclusion would probably come to fruition to some extent.
I think many of us are expecting a father daughter relationship between Roy and Solty to be the crux of this shows storyline.
But then there will probably be a whole lot of innuendo: "shes his daughter! Wait no she isnt" type stuff. [/spoiler]

Your 2nd hypothesis is definitely plausible, especially when i think about it.
But, as we have really no idea about wat blast fall is, and who Solty is, it could be blown out of the water in future episodes. Where as i'd be heaps surprise if there was only little focus upon a father and daugher relationship between Roy and Solty
All shall be revealed...

Well (ep 2 & ep 3 spoilers)

Someone spotted in ep 2, after Roy had named her Solty, that the screen of what maybe the CPU for Solty actually changed it's name from "Dike/Nike/Mike" to "Solty".

Maybe a prototype of a full-bodied resemble? Well it sparked a hell lot of interest from that mechanic guy

So, your first possibility stoker, to me, is not going to happen. But, they will bring out Roy-Solty relationship to the fullest, if we based it in the closing scenes in the OP (He was gripping her hand quite tightly, and Solty too) and in the ED (What looks like Roy's hand reaching out to Solty's) Besides, the second possibilty is MUCH more interesting than the first one Wink

And in response to Nef

I think they will not only focus Roy-Solty relation, but the whole family, including Miranda and her child (name?). We can see this in the second episode, where it was because of that girl that made Roy springs into action

Solty, wth her costume, kinda reminds me of a boss from megaman, with the colors....the large armbands, that look like blasters, everytime i see her, i expect her to start firing those yellow x-blaster bullets. But other than that, its really intersting so far, kinda reminds me of speed grapher, with the character set up, also same tv station, asahi.

Yep yep, completely agree there will likely be much devleopment of family, but it will likely play a backstage role to the father daughter relationship.

I dont think the 1st possibility should be completely dismissed just yet

There obviously that inexplicable attachment Solty has with Roy which cannot be explained if Solty is just a run off the mill prototype. I think theres likely a connection between Solty and Roy's daughter. Roy's daughter probably isn't dead though...

Sorry, i think its time i stop dragging out this specualation discussion after only 3 episodes. No more speculation from me for now Smile

I just started watching this series today. I must say I am enjoying it. The animation is prety good, the story is ok but what I realy enjoy is the characterisation. Elfen Leid meets Bublegum Crisis meets Trigun (Trigun is just a hunch which another poster has already theorised about)

i think the anime will move twords theory 1 till around ep 20, then you'll learn theory 2 is actually the truth. Theres too many small things pointing to her being his daughter this early in the series that it probly isnt true.

Yeah I really don't see her being his daughter. I love the awkward and amazingly funny moments that Roy and Solty have in their daughter-father relationship. One annoying thing I'd like to point out is that we get shots of solty's butt WAY too much. seriously, I do not enjoy staring at a 14 year old's rear end, I mean it borders on something wrong, fiercely wrong.....
