Oh, I love this anime. I don't know why you don't like the op song, I think ally kerrs song fits in perfectly... mabey it's just me.

i remember reading somewhere that Mushishi is slated to return this month. I think it was this month.

And it has returned!
This episode is the most disturbing so far, by far. The writers created for the parents what must be one of the most horrible dilemmas ever. The fact that we almost never see children being killed in films and television programs makes this episode all the more unsettling. And it is unnerving to discover how human mushi[s?] can actually be.

Ginko makes an interesting distinction between the mushi and humans. But I'm not entirely convinced. Wasn't the mushi a demonstrating problem solving ability when it sent a child to read Ginko's manuscripts? And the closing conversation between the mushi and Ginko makes things even more confusing. The mushi engages with the idea of death and it also makes value judgements about Ginko, saying he is "foolish".

This episode is the first, I think, to give the mushi a voice. To the mushi, Ginko is a "creature". Ginko's humanity does not give him any more right to live than another conscious being.

Comparing ep. 21 to ep. 20, both great episodes, makes you realise just how much range the Mushishi series has.

This anime is still ongoing, they decided to finish the last eps in May but no one has subbed them yet.

Out of curiosity, shouldn't this thread be moved back to the Current Anime thread?

I just read the first chapter of the manga and the drawings are rough; very different from the anime. Also, Ginko looks much younger in the manga than he does in the anime.

Is it just me, or are the mushi in the newer episodes much more malignant than in the previous episodes? Whereas before, they were kind of there, they seem to be out to "get" people, if you know what I mean, in the more recent episodes.

so how many episodes are there of mushishi??? i see you poeple writing about ep 21 and so on but the only ones i know of are the ones that ANBU has and thats only 20 eps where is it that i can find the higher up eps????
