Downloading anime = Bad?

my brother and I are arguing over this.

What i mean is, when people download anime so much. The makers get less money and when the makers get less money. In theory they become crap if you know what i mean

and sorry i forgot to add in the post up there, that maybe downloading anime might be destroying it. Forgot to add anything that had to do with the real topic name haha sorry

some of the animes i've dled i've gone out and bought the 200$ CDN boxsets. i'd like to buy more anime but to stick with my lazy 1 shift a week at work i can't afford anime and video games. Plus like most people i like the japenese voices better then the english voices, although some of them high pitched girl voices are annoying.

Somebody dont have enough money to buy a DVD by his/her own .
(age <15) . So it's good to share anime on internet .

It's BAD if u dled all the time without buying atleast 1 DVD .
If you really love anime , so sometime you must buy them , you cant download all times .

It's not bad to download per se, but that doesn't give you the right to be a freeloader (saying you're too poor is NOT an excuse). As long as you support the series when it comes out on DVD, your conscience should be clear. The way I see it, DLing is just getting an advanced copy. I will buy the series when they come out on R1.

It's not really a big deal. Let's take Naruto for example, probably the anime that is downloaded the most, right? And since I estimate Dattebayo's coverage at ~85%, let's take 300,000 downloads per episode worldwide. That's only a small percentage of TV viewers. Naruto doesn't air in all countries though and DVDs aren't available either.
If the anime isn't available at all outside Japan, it's even less important.

Fansubs bring anime to people outside of Japan. How do you think Naruto and bleach became so popular before the american release? Before it was ever released in U.S it already had a huge underground following which brought a higher demand for their products. On the flipside some fans are too cheap to support the companies producing the anime. I do my best but i dont spend a massive load on dvds, thats insane. I do buy lower ranged items like the Naruto headband, wristband, figurines, ost's etc, just to show my support without blowing loads of cash on them ^^.

well, as long as you keep it private, it's ok. Just don't sell it or use it to ur financial benefits.

well downloading anime is good if it's not liscenced
when it is liscenced just go buy it or watch it on tv or something...

I buy anime DVD:s always when possible, but the prices in here a quite horrid. So I usually wait for discounts...uh does that make me bad? Confused

I really don't have the money to buy all the DVD's anime and regular that I would want to, so I just patiently wait for the prices to drop or hoping that by some magical coincindence my vallet would get much much fatter...At the moment it's so thin that Im starting to get worried...

downloading anime is bad but i do it anyway. like naruto, even though it's licensed and all, i can't wait 5 years for that series to come out when i know i could just download it. I'll still buy the dvds cuz it's a good series, but seriously, 5 years is a long time. they only release about 4 or 5 episode every other month. it takes forever.
