Book of mormon was written by some guy as many of the scriptures in bible were written by "some guys".
Personally I don't see much difference between those or quran or any other religious literatures.

That's true. In every religious scripture I've ever read, they all have the same basic beliefs. The only things that change are basic names and practices. So really when people debate religion, they are really debating small details that have a small significance.

Other. I follow my own beliefs, which are based in the Taoist philosophy/religion. The Chrisitan religion is also interesting, and I used to be a Roman Catholic, but I cannot really follow its doctrine.

I am ver angry Mad !!!!

I am all for culture and religion, but when ppl dissmiss scientific FACT because they take a religious txt to litarily, it makes no sense to me!!??!

I saw on the news that a museum in america is gonna open, its a Natural History museum that takes the bible 100% litarily and contradicts every other natural history museum in the world. It claims that the world realy was created in a week, that dinosaurs existed side by side with Adam and Eve and that the earth is only about 6000 years old.

I'm sorry to offend if some ppl here truely believe this, but i myself cant understand how a person can choose not to believe scientific fact. It puzzles me..... Confused ??????????

even if you go by the bible the world is more than 6000
the dinosoaurs may have actually existed side by side with man from some stuff i read in smithsonian magazine
also a diplodicus carcass was found a couple decades ago by some fisherman off the coast fo JAPAN unfortunaltley they didn't handle it properly or somehtingand it was destroyed or something like that
i have a picture of the thing but it's so badly mangled that eventually they disregarded it.
if you believe in god then the world really could have been created in a week
the big bang theory was made by a guy who came up with it as a joke this is true and no joke.
evolution still has some big holes in it.
they have not found even one missing link yet
granted some animals and stuff have similarities but they have not found any links between any of them

If they claim world is only 6000 years old or anywhere close to that, that means they don't believe in carbon isotope dating method. If they don't believe in those, what are they going to belive about science? When I imagine the kind of people who thinks that way, I think of some kind of inbred mutant mountain folks. Rolling Eyes

I'm Christian. More specifically, I'm a Lutheran. We're the slackers of the Christian faith Razz

My thoughts on my religion are somewhat philisophical. A life without faith is a life without hope. And a life without hope isnt really a life at all. Stuff like that. I cant see how people can live not believing in anything at all.

The way I see it, there has to be some kind of God. How could life be just some random occurance? And then there's the question of life after death. The way I see it, there's no way that a living being, someone who is able to think and feel, could ever just fade from existance.

What really causes me to believe that there is a God is that feeling of insignificance that I get whenever I look up at a star filled sky. I love that feeling. I always feel so small, and I admire the beauty of it all. How could this whole universe just be a chance happening? Those are my thoughts.

I would also be a very lousy missionary. I'm not the type of person who likes to impose my beliefs on others. If you dont agree with my ideas on religion, I'm not going to be all holier-than-thou and spew out some stuff about repentance and crap. I'll just let you believe what you want.

And there you go. My religious viewpoint in a nutshell.

my kudos and respect to you Spender. i think youve achieved the right balance: accepting alternative perspectives without compromising your own.
im atheist but think i understand where youre coming from, even if i cant bring myself to agree with you on everything. i get the feeling that some people get 'lost' in their religion. But i dont think you have. Faith is a beautiful thing.
