| I just got an iPod, I was against them forever because I have another MP3 player that holds just as much, was about 3/4 the price, and shows up as a drive on any computer, making iTunes and all that not an issue. However, it's like 8 times the size of an iPod and I can't go running with it, so I finally caved. My question is, is there any software or whatnot that does this: http://www.podmaxx.com/about.php for free? Or do you think that the price is worth it for all that? I can't deal with iTunes, I need to subvert it in some way, and it bothers me to no end that I can't trade music with people. |

I don't have an answer to your question but...
I think you should have waited till the video ipod came out.
I'm thinking of buying the new 60gb video capable ipod next year even though I already have a 20gb ipod. Because I want my anime to be accessable wherever I go. _________________ [IMG:258:200]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v435/ypark/sigs/3fsn.png[/img] |

| Video iPod is not that good, and the reason is simple, it can play only one format of video files, and the screen is way too small for subs! |

I don't think the format is the problem since you convert into compatible format when you transfer it.
But the screen size is definately an issue. I'll decide depending on whether the subtitles will be visible or not. If not, I have not need for a music video ipod... _________________ [IMG:258:200]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v435/ypark/sigs/3fsn.png[/img] |

| I was thinking about buying that, then when I see the actual one, it's too small... so I decide to buy a Nano instead... anyway, you can just get Creative or RCA for the video jukebox... |

| I just use my PSP for all my video, and I want to use my ipod for all my audio/data so I just want it to act like a hard drive. I guess I should just get Podmaxx and see if it does what it claims. It's only $20. |

You could probably get a serial crack to use that software for free if you search around Warez hard enough or P2P clients, CREATIVE imo is alot better for holding video files then IPOD, coz you dont need to convert files.
But the best choice for holding video files would of course have to be the PSP, gettiing memory cards seem like a better options imo. |

| Hmm. I don't think I'm savvy enough to do all that. I ended up caving and dropping the dough on Podmaxx, which does do everything it said it would. Actually, it's kinda cool to be able to have my outlook info (calendar, e-mails) on my ipod. |
