I was studing for my biology test when i got this weird tought:

Different species evolve together with environment. I mean if environment runs through serious changes, iceage etc. then some species will die and some new will evolve. This is all set with how capable are some species able to evole and how connected are they with environment.

Now, human is smart. We can avoid environment changes. If its cold, we go inside and turn oure heater on or something. You get the point. But if we can avoid environment, will we develope further? will we be next millenium 2 feet taller and with three hands or what? will oure brain only develop? will we die because we cant develop further? etc. Gimme some answers Smile

Well if the scientists prediction of a major new iceage is correct, then we wont be able to survive it because it will be so extreem that our buildings will probably not be able withstand it.

This of course will be over a large period of time, and at first we could maybe survive, but eventualy things like farming will becom impossible and a large number of animals will die. without food, the human race is doomed.~this is just a theory~

Other theorys include: we revert back to primitive bings, we evolve into even smarter beings (large forhead, etc...), or somhow the human race will die out because of either disies or infertility problems (which is on the rise).

.....on the other hand aliens could come and use us as lab mice and create a bunch of super mutent humans....but that si unlikely~^_^

all in all, i think it is impossible to actualy know what we will turn out like in the future.

It's a common misconception that evolution occcurs all the time. In truth evolution is long period of no changes punctuated by short periods of great changes. We human beings are exactly as we were hundreds of thousands of years ago. The only change in the poplution will be a greater percentage of Africans and Asians just because they are capable of having more children. With climatic changes...Who knows? The climatic changes may actually help some people out.......

i think that man has already reached a form of evolution which we need not go any further with. in other words, we are near perfection.if we are to evolve further, it wont be because of nature or natural evolvution, it will be by our own science.science has already discovered the aging gene, when its isolated, we will live up to around 150 so they say. we evolved from primates to beings able to adapt to change and we engineer instruments to allow ourselves to survive.

nothing can evolve within a millenia, it takes millions of years. some animals may very well become exist, but within extinction comes existence; there will always be animals taht can or have adapted to the a new environment. they will be our food. and so we will always be here, for many more generations. we've over come everything that has come. the last ice age, ancient man survived that and here we are today. because of them and their ability to adapt and survive, they evolved and became us.

Have you ever looked at your parents faces? They don't look exactly the same as yours, that's because you're a combination of both.

Meaning, you are the evolved offspring of them. Even those from 30 years before...

Look at the black & white pics/films of the oldies. They look so different from the people of today!

We are still evolving.

Not quite....Those genetic differences have been present in us humans since our simian ancestry...

I mean....All animals have individual differences but it doesn't mean that they are evolving.

It's only when a gentic trait is especially adept at allowing the organism to survive and reproduce is expressed with greater frequency within a population......That is evolution....Evolution occurs as a species not just one individual

I thought evolution only occurs when their is change in the environment and species need to adapt. Such as the transition of frogs growing legs so that it could further explore the land. Isn't evolution basically adaptation? Because in order to adapt the human mind was altered when we went from the hunter gatherer phase into the agriculture growing phase. Because of the necesity to adapt humans had to abandon old ways of hunting and begin to think up of new ways to get food.

Currently, there is no dilemma that makes humans need to change. But can humans adapt to fight HIV/AIDS and other STDs? Because the English Settlers brought with them small pox to the native americans but the English Settlers had already adapted to small pox >_>

Exactly Kami. The basic concept of evolution is that over a period of time, a species will adapt to meet its needs. So humans as they are now do not need to adapt, they are evolving at a slower rate. (The higher the need to adapt=the faster the rate of evolution.) So humans right now are in theory still evolving, but they are just doing it at a slow rate.

we'll probably be almost the same for a while, until some major change in the environment comes and wipes us out. we've gone through the millions of years of evolution, like many species, and true to the pattern, we'll probably go mostly extinct except for a small percentage of humans, or human related organisms, that'll eventually take over the planet themselves. eitherthat, or we'll blow oursleves up.

Whats sad in all this is that evolution has yet to be proven. It certainly seems like it exist but up untill this point no scientific evidence has been provided to argue that evolution in fact exists. Now keeping that out of the way, if we are to evolve it probably wouldnt be very good. We would most likely get more fragile as we condition ourselves to cushy living. Our ability to think might become broadened but were basing this on the assumption that our society will exist long enough to bear the fruits of evolution. Were done with oil in 50 years and we could easily see a nuclear event occuring that kills us before then. It would at least take 5000 years to lose something like a pinky toe and thats provided we live in 5000 years of peace.
