lemme ask you guys a question...
do u believe that video game violece making kids more violent than ever?
think about it this way...
if you live in toronto, canada, in one area there was a major amount of gun violence, mainly consisting of youths, ages 15-17
there was basically a shooting about every night...
i mean look at the games nowadays,
such games like cs, grand theft auto, and many more games that promote such things like drugs, gangs and murder have been popping up everywhere
so...
what do you guys think about all this?

that has absolutely nothing to do with video game violence. i would know because i live in T.O. too, and the fault is all due to the arrival of illegal shipments of firearms from south of the border, coupled with gang violence in west end north york, and some parts of eastern scarborough. there has hardly ever been any gun violence due to video game influence in this city

I honestly don't think that video games have anything to do with the actions that the youths of today commit. Throughout history there has been numerous accounts of gang related violence even when video games weren't around. In today's society almost everyone has come in contact with games. A lot of people have played these so called "violent and influencial" games such as: GTA, CS, and other titles. What society doesn't understand is that many children today don't get their dose of "infuencial violence" from video games, but rather from tv.

I think that many people are sensible enough to tell whether something is a game and whether something is real life. People are born with morals and common sense so I don't think that video games can deeply affect the crime rates and etc.

If there were to be games made about healthy food choices or chores, I highly doubt that they would because many people like to play video games for their fictional story line and absurd use of: violent language, violence itself, sex and other content.

I, myself have advocated that games have no harm what so ever with the demoralization of our communities. Although, I don't live in Toronto, I have heard that Canada has some of the lowest death rates from gun violence.

In the end you are solely responsible for your actions and people should begin to realize this, you choose to play games because you want to, i hate how people use video games as a scapegoat for their actions.

I agree with frozen_chiken, its not like you can blame videogames because they are violent or not, in the end its up to you choose if youre going to do something or not.

you could also say that videogames are just an outlet for a lot of emotions. like if ur frustrated, wouldnt it be better to take it out on a virtual enemy or character instead of a real person?

This is a definite no. If it was true, I would have killed a couple of people already. I don't understand why this is still an issue, since most of the "youth of tomorrow" are already in their 20s and 30s, and are either marrying or having children. We already have a generation reaching adulthood who have grown up with video games. If someone usese the excuse that video games weren't violent when I was a kid, they must have forgotten games like Mortal Kombat, killer instinct, DOOM, Duke Nukeum, and many other violent games of the 90s. This issue was brought up when i was a kid, and now that I"m reaching full adulthood, I can't believe they still don't understand that the majority of us gamers have grown up to be upstanding citizens with jobs and families. Damn the news media and "parent groups" make me sick.

Think back over all the gamer's conventions there have been, like E3 etc...

Ever hear of any violence at these events?

Now compare it to a professional football match. How many of the fans involved in hooliganism play games do you think?

It's not likely that people of our age will be inspired to go popping caps or other bad things just because they spend their time playing violent games.

If you want violent cause, I'd blame how one was raised.
