That's not an excuse... imagine... 170MB to Just a little more thatn 42MB!!!! It's 4xMB less!!!
And Real Alternative is less than 8mb to download, it's easy as BSplayer and others. |

Real media format are not as popular due to the fact that it has a lot of things that it can't use. For example, some filters are not compatible with Real. Why avi is very popular is because most of the codecs and filters can be used on the avi to enhance the features. _________________

What RMVB makes so great is because they have a really good algorithm and yet be in variable bit rate. With animes or anything cartoon, these videos should be encoded in constant bit rate because... yes, most of the pictures and colors are constant pretty much all the time. VBR are great for real life-like videos and since they're variable, they can discard parts or colors that supposedly aren't noticeable with our eyes. Thus, saving you more space.
But what Jsy3k said, RMVB is missing filters that fansubbers need, like the subtitles. That Blood+ video was first encoded in avi because of the subtitles and then the video was re-encoded to RMVB. This takes time, effort, and CPU power. You also loose quality which most of us fans aren't very fond of. If I recall correctly, RMVB encoder isn't free just like most of the other Real medias. |

| and because not everybody like rmvb, although people usually get it in rmvb, they will convert it to other extension first and then upload the converted file |

When i first saw this RMVB format...it played in real player that i DON'T really use.
then when I saw a torrent of an anime that contains 20 episodes in 600mb...it made me think..."Is that real?!" i was in doubt so that I ignored it even though that torrent was a great series...
I'm not really used to Real player since...it kinda confuses me, unlike Winamp or WMP10 or Classic. _________________
