Gunparade Orchestra Synopsis & Reviews

Hell YEAH!!!!

I was waiting, and praying that someone subbed this thing, and FINALLY!!! Conclave released the first episode!!! FINALLY!!!!

Well then, first episode rantings

This is a TOTALLY different feeling, very different from the original Gunparade March. I might say, that this might be a totally different anime. Gunparade March was mecha action mixed with drama a bit, but this seems to mix some comedy and mecha action. The use of CG is pretty nice too, although somewhat out. (Personally no CG is better this time)

Hmm, I was checking out the forums to see if it was worth downloading. Not much info so far but it would seem mistabean your tastes are similar to mine, so I give it a DL.

i don't think Orchestra will be as serious as march was. it just doesn't have that same feeling that none of the characters are safe from a sudden death like what happened in the first ep and then in a later ep.

It isn't too bad, though I wouldn't get my hopes too high, since it's only the first episode I've seen so far. Still, nice mecha animation, and the typical 'I don't know what the hell's going on until the later episodes' syndrome which many animes are starting to have. Still, it does look promising, like an anime with a blend of genres again (something which I like) so I'm looking forward to the next episode somehow. Smile

The 1st eps is quite ok. The atmosphere of the story looks rather cheerful but GPM also has quite a cheerful start and turn to be more serious in the middle. I'm definitely getting the 2nd eps.

Well I watched the first ep and really can't make anykind of opinion out of this series yet. This series is like Rahxephon or NGE (Both dull and quite crappy in my opinnion), they're fighting against some weird monsters, but none of the characters actually seemed to be depressed!
Ill definitely atleast watch the next ep.

And whats up with that penguine!?

just watched episode 2... and yeah looks like they are now mixing comedy, drama and mecha action, and with more emphasis on drama when they are trying to bring the team together.

Really, there is no one to blame actually. Or both sides are to blame from the looks of it, Ishida for selflishly wanting to rescue survivors while putting her comrades in dangers, and the team for not properly killing that Phantom Beast the first place, and not efficient enough.

All we need now is someone to die. But i see some problems in this one. In GPM the team was not so big, and when someone dies it really leave a huge impact. But in GPO the team is big, and viewers might not be able to connect with each characters close enough, to feel the impact of their deaths.

i actually think ishida was correct in her decision. they were right on time to rescue the investigators before the helicopter blew. if anything, the fault lied with saika suggesting and ishida ordering the first extinguishing shot. the show wouldnt be interesting if there wasnt the rebellion, but when the two girls take those feelings into the battlefield the real danger is there.

i agree with mistabean, someone should die. then in the shock they can realize the true seriousness of the situation and actually listen for once. but saika getting hurt has only served to undermine ishida's authority so it might backfired also.

bringing personal things will always cloud your judgement, especially in battlefields. Well Ishida truly is doing her job, but putting the lives of her comrade in danger is where her mistake is (though I don't think she ordered Saika to come with her though)

Well, those kids is having a major wake-up call, if only someone were to show them what it means to trust your commander, and what is really a battlefield, and to finish it, someone has to die.

well then... episode 3 subbed

It is in someway more easygoing than Gunparade March, but somehow Gunparade Orchestra is a bit more deep. Well a broken chain of command and ignoring your superior's orders are certainly the worst thing that can happen in a team, and GPO tackles this in a good way.

Although the situation was rectified a bit, when the bridge is only partly blown. But that girl commander got some good judgement skills that, I think most of the unit member (save one) recognizes.

This is certainly going to get better... As I said, all we need is now for someone to die Wink

I haven't seen Gunparade March and I'm currently watching Gunparade Orchestra. Would I be missing anything if I didn't watch March?

nope your not missing anything. its a totally new cast located somewheres else in the war.

i don't think the mech fights could be any worse in this show if they tried.

hmmmm, then another question! Is that teacher person a guy or a girl?! Painted nails, and a heart on your face...but the person has kind of a masculine voice.

well the mech fights are certainly not the best. But at least it is not as worst as Kannadzuki no Miko, whose mechs single-handedly destroys the whole mood of the anime (here, at least the cockpits are realistics). But tactical fights and the importance of keeping the chain of command intact are the key points here.

But what struck me is how tactical can a Phantom Beast be. Going out to destroy a bridge, heck even sending covers and support for that "suicide bomber". Certainly a bit different from the ones I saw in GPM.
