Ok i've been playing it all day (Canceled my order off of amazon and got it from pc world with a FREE poster for £26) and this is what I think about it:
OMIGOSHTHISISTHEBESTGAMEIHAVEEVERPLAYED
This is by far the most impressive game i have ever played, now when i think about some of the bad reviews the game has gotten I can't help but thinking "Hmmmm strange... are they sure they were playing doom 3?".
From the moment I saw the first person get turned into a "Zombie" I couldn't stop playing it! I've been playing it in the dark with my headphones in for about 5 hours now
So far...
Fave monster: The new Imps... when i saw the first one I was like "HOLY CHRIST CAKES!"
Fave gun: Shotgun *BOOM*
Fave area: Alpha labs 3 (I got hooked on the crane thingy too ) |

turns out though, the cranes were really a part of using the game.
very nice for showing their ragdoll physics or whatnot.. how everything fell/moved/swung.
If you get the Nitro mod (forgot where, just search for doom3 mods) you get some useful perks added on. Several guns get higher ammo capacity, the pistol gets a laser sight, rifle and the shotgun have light. some people might think this is cheap, but I think it enhances gameplay. _________________

So far i love the game, only played one hour but it's great.
As for the mods, i think i'll complete the game a first time before i use them. |

The first thing i did was get that duck tape mod. Oh man does it help. No words can describe how destrubied and scared i am to play this. Ive gone through at least 5 paris of you know what. The games just got the ora that makes me just well no words can describe it. I know one thing kids that are playing below the reted 17+ might want to reconsider, i dont mean everybody thow.
I really cant explain how I feel about the game but i sure cant play it straight threw like other games. |

if you mean pairs, then I totally understand you. I suggest buying diapers to minimize the cleanup.
And to the screenshot posted... I saw those games too it's fun to take screenshots of things like those. comical relief. although I also take pictures of the dead monsters.
(nitro mod stops the monsters/people taht die to not burn away/disappear, so their bodies remain there to be mutilated. however, they don't blow to pieces. poop.)
wow, I haven't played it since I've been watching love hina streaming on winamp :p nonstop from ep 17 back to ep 7/8... just a few more eps and I can sleep. _________________

There's loads of things like that throughout the game... like the magazines you see with the guy from the first Doom on the front
Oh and as for my progress in the game, i'm up to the final boss... scuse' me while I get some clean underware *shudder*. |

have u guys played the MP!!!!! i fsking love it!!!!!! its not quite like q3 but i can still strafe jump and rocket jump! the down/up side is the rocket launcher. it only has a 5 shot count until recoil, but for someone thats awesome like Fatal1ty (who won the doom3 tournament at quakecon) it helps a little.
BTW QUAKECON ROCKED!!!!!!!!
other than the fact that its only up to 4 players on the MP, it still rocks. actually, i like just doing 1v1 the most.

Im defenetly glad I didnt buy it. If I had I really would have been disapointed. While the game was fun that guys review was right on the money. My dad got lost in the first few minutes and thats prety bad because he normally dont get lost till hes about half way through any game. Lets hope Half-Life2 will be better.
It was all hype. |

I will still buy it to play it (several months later when the price drops) but I do have a realistic expectation of what it will be.
But also because I'm waiting for HL2 to build my new system to be able to play these two games with a good frame rate rather than build it to play one and be slow in the other (since both will be the 2 new 'standards' of engines for new games). |

| Doom 3 has the best atmosphere in any game i played. No game ever made me more afraid of dying than doom3. Hl2 is fun but it just cant match with style that doom 3 has although is it really really fun. |

| I bet there's a lot of people in this forum that know about the expansion pack coming out for it. The demon powers seem a bit gimmicky, but I think that Id can make it work out in innovative ways. My favorite addition: the attached flashlight to a suit. Finally! |
