Hi to everyone!
I'm a new user.
I know it's a bad idea to begin my "life" here,in this forum, with a new topic,but......you'll learn it,I'm an idiot!
I couldn't find a topic about this anime serie,so I thought to open a new one.
Please,if there's another topic about this serie link it here and close this one.
Well,my problem is:
I'm italian (this is the cause of my bad english writing and speaking I'm also a bad student ) and Ghost in the Shell-Stand Alone Complex dvd serie will be released very soon here in Italy.
Ghost in the Shell movie Dvd has been released only 2 weeks ago, first only the VHS was available.
I've reserved my GITS movie Dvd copy (Special Edition) but I've never seen that yet so I don't know how this movie is in digital quality.
My questions about Stand Alone Complex are:
How is this anime serie?
Is as good as the movie? (I'm talkin' about story, characters ecc.)
Did you enjoy it?
Do you think it is a good purchase?
'Cause I don't know if I should reserve these anime serie dvds too or buy the movie dvd only.
Please,help me!
P.S.
I'm sorry for my bad english.......I know reading it for you will be like reading ancient egyptian signs!

Ghost in the Shell:Stand Alone Complex is definetly a good buy!
The characters are the same as in the movie, with Togusa, Motoko, Batao, chief Aramaki, and section 9. As for the story of Stand Alone Complex, some episodes have stories that last only the length of the episode. Others last several episodes. The episodes involve cases like the Laughing Man, criminals, corrupt politicians, and stuff that section 9 would normally take care of. Some, but very few of the episodes are boring(they involve mostly talking). The animation is VERY good for an anime TV show. The fight scenes are awsome! Most episodes are interesting an full of action.
One thing about Stand Alone Complex is that, although it has the same characters, it is separate from the movies. Don't try to put Stand Alone Complex together with the Ghost in the Shell movie.
Stand Alone Complex is a must have for any anime fan, but there are around 52 episodes, so that means a lot of DVDs. I don't know how they will be released in Italy, but the first season of Stand Alone Complex is 7 dvds in the U.S, and there is a second season with another 7 dvds to come, I think.
If I were you, then I would buy the movie( I personally own the special edition of the movie and it is digitally remastered with lots of extras), and if you have the money, buy GitS: SAC. As I have said before, The Stand Alone Complex series is very good. I don't know how it is in Italy but in the U.S, SAC was released with special editions of each volumes. Volume 1 has a soundtrack along with the normal dvd.
Sorry for making this so long, and your English is actually pretty good
Oh yeah, and if you don't know, there is a second Ghost in the Shell movie called Ghost in the Shell2: Innocence. _________________ [img:400:224:9a48d672c1]http://comalies.free.fr/images/ergoproxy.jpg[/img:9a48d672c1]

Finished season 2 just now, and it was amazing. I liked the overall feel that the second season had. This made me think of whether there would be a third season. I checked google, and no obvious hits.

1. yes, it's excellent. Plenty of interesting stories, the music is great, the artwork is beautiful, and the characters are believable (well, in some respects, but they seem like real people even if they do jump off building rooftops). A lot of people complain about the Tachikoma conversations, but I think they are intelligent and worth paying attention to.
2. Are you talking about the original movie from the 90's or Innocense that just came out last year? I only saw the first one, so based on that, the series is much better for all the reasons mentioned above.
3. I loved every minute of it, can't wait to pop volume 2 of season 2 in.
4. I thought it was an awesome purchase because the MSRP (well in the US at least) is $5 less than most other DVDs, so not only is it worth it, but also it's not as hard on my bank account as other animes.
Hope that helps!! (woohoo, post number 200!! now I'm a Yari Asi.. ari... ami... whatever it says now) _________________ GTX: Great Teacher Xeno... my daily blog about teaching in an elementary and middle school in Japan (see right-menu)
Actually, I would say that there are less filler episodes in this series than many other 26 episode series. Each episode shown is to explain a complicated detail that we must know about in a later important episode. It's really shitty script writing when you have the main characters escape, and then explain how they randomly manifested these powers. The 'filler' episodes are used to get the audience familiarized with the setting, so they know what the characters can do.
As an unashamed SAC fanboy, I have to say that I loved both the GITS SAC series to death. I own the complete first season on dvd and have started on the second. The conclusion to both series made me cry *_*
