"According to a recent Reuters article, scientists have been able to cause monkeys to stop procrastinating by blocking the development of a dopamine receptor in the brain. The net result- the monkeys turned into workaholics. An article has appeared in the online version of Nature. Apparently, monkeys, just like human beings, tend to slack off on tasks until the very last minute. They become quite adept at judging how long they have till they absolutely must complete these tasks. The original article appears in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America. An additional blurb appears here courtesty of Science Blog." NIH has a press release. _________________ @bluestorm6 god... I have a horrible headache

Now we'll be worried of monkeys in the workplace... he he he j/k
That's an interesting one, I hope they can create a pill that will have that result so I can finish all my unfinished projects. However I don't know if it will be a boon or bane to mankind... |

You are not messing with my brain! I will put all I do not enjoy off to the last minute. The way nature intended it to be! Are we really not getting enough done as to validate something like this? Just how hard do these people want us to work? _________________ Need help adding an image to your signature? Click here then. |

i've always had a special place for the saying: "whatever i don't get done today, i can do tomorrow", and then the next day, and the next, etc. haha.
btw, i think either 2002 or 2003, u.s. became the most workaholic nation, with the average numbers of hours worked per year surpassing even the japanese, by about 500. that really didnt make me feel proud tho. i would much prefer more vacation and national holidays. we don't have enough! |

| I experienced that doing the work as soon as possible is not really good, because you realize how much time you have got left and charge into new work (and there is always something to do or improve). |

procrastination... hmm. I like laziness. But I think it's getting a little out of hand.
I'm almost 17 and I still don't have my license <_<; had to extend my permit... I've finally taken up the written test and I'll take it tomorrow morning though. if I pass (I dont' remember anything) my drive test will be in like ten years _________________

mm I snatch rides from my friends
problem is, the two I take from the most..
First friend, he drives exactly the speed limit, or lower than it too. He's a safety freak. But then.. for some reason he'll start singing and waving his arms, and the car will go onto the other side of the road while he sings and eats. x_X
other one will go at LEAST 15-20 miles over the speed limit, pass people, go all willy nilly on the roads. it's fun driving with her until we end up crashing or getting spotted by police (she's gotten about 3-4 tickets by now.. surprised she's still allowed to drive) _________________

isn't Dopamine the hormone that certain dru9s play with and make you sad?
By that logic, ex-dru9gies should be workaholics.
I never really cared about getting my license because if I can't walk to where I want to go, I can usually get a ride.
It's quite convenient, though. _________________ The pen is mightier than the sword

hhmm... procratination... love hate relationship, i procratinate so much its nolonger funny, didnt go to a faraway college becuase i was to lazy to SEND my applications, or to even contact a school about the full schalarship for swimming they offered(i didnt like the school much anyway), and turned in my application to my current college THE LAST day possible, but then again if i hadent of done that i wouldnt have my current job as system administrator over a whole high school, and thats includeing the fact that im only one year older that the seniors that atend there,(some even being ex-gf), but no matter, money is money, and its a good full time job, heh, now i work one job full time, go to 7 hours of college and work half time at another job(pays almost 150% of my full time job) so everyweek i work ~64-65 hours a week + school, now after hearing this anyone would think that i wasnt a slacker... wrong again, i have 4 4 page essays due... in bout 3 days, how much have i finished? NOTHING!!!( im actually at work right now and since im kinda free i was planing to be typing my essays, but this comes first)...
ok i feel better now..
P.S. maybe i should copy paist this into the middle of my essay just to see if she reads it =P |
