Anybody play this yet? I've commited genocide, murdered nations, and dropped ICBMS on nations who were still using metal casing tools. I LOVE THIS GAME. Makes me feel so much more like a evil world tyrant, instead of the homebody college student that I am.

I've gotten two space race victories, a couple of time victories. I have not had the chance to use ICBMs because another leader was elected as UN Secertary General and banned nukes. Damn that made me pissed. Plus I didn't have uranium, so I invaded that country, wiped them out with my Navy SEALs, Modern Armor and Stealth Bombers. I like the civics aspects of the game, makes it interesting and fun. Good game!

I want to get it at some point. I've played all of the civs. My favourite part is creating cities as close together as possible and spreading out from there.

I hoped for more from this game. Sure, it's nice but it has nothing that I haven't seen in other games. I especially hate how the tech tree ends just when it gets interesting. The way the game is right now, Call to Power 2 is still the better earth-based game even though it's 5 years old and Alpha Centauri remains the best civ game ever.

What difficulty you play on? I'm trying out Prince rite now......With little success.......I've never lost so far though on all the noble games I've played. I played 2 noble games. Won the diplo win both times. Which is pretty good I think, considering this is my first TBS game after Heroes 3 which had much less strategy involved.

Thinking of getting a Diplomacy victory....It's the only one possible besides cultural. But cultural victory takes a helluva lotta work. I tried it out on a warmonger game. Had to wipe out 4 civs to the point of insignificance because they completed the apollo program and my 3 cities were about 20 turns from achieving legendary culture so I got worried. Asoka almost beat me. Thank god for those spies hehehe.

I'm really lagging behind in technology. I pretty sure I'm gonna lose this prince game but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Huge Great plains map.....9 civs......And guess where I am? In the middle!!! Beginners luck I suppose......I've monopolized the desert sand trade lol

yea the great plains map is huge! i also maxed out my opponents and my civ started in the most fertile area(Northeast portion of the map). my nation spanned from the NE southward and a bit west, and some parts of texas, louisana. I looked all over for aluminum and uranium, then i found it in the Rockies. so i attacked japan and spain(who were living in the mountains. yup sent my marines across the plains with tanks, mech infantry as backup, and a huge squadron of bombers(36, i think). helluva game!

Yeah the east is the most fertile but the strategic resources are concentrated in the west.

I lost that game. My score was mediocre at first but the lower civs were wiped out or had golden ages and so overtook me. Thus I became the weakest and my bloody allies all turned against me.From pleased to annoyed!! I was at war with 5 civs at games end. Managed to at least defend my capital for a 100 turns before all their troops invaded my lands and bring production to a halt. They had infantry, I had musketmen. Bloody hell.

But I got a few new tricks from this escapade.....Successfully pulled em off to win a noble game easily. My cultural + blitzkrieg strategy is the best I've formulated. Now I'm figuring out how to destroy a civ early game. Killed Monty a couple of times by 3000 BC. Monty is my punching bag Razz

Indians are good for cultural & diplo wins but crap at military.

At higher difficulties, your city may be captured by barbarians if you don't sacrifice tech into hunting & archery.

But yeah, good for settler difficulty. Gandhi rocks.

I like to play CIV 4 too! I didn't play it for too long since I got bore of it. It doesn't seem much different than CIV3 but just better graphic.

It is very diff from Civ 3.

For one thing, the single strategy of ICS (infinite city sprawl) won't take you very far due to maintenance costs. This gives the game an aspect of quality over quantity. Unlike civ 3.

And there are the new victory conditions too.

Typically, my laptop is not quite good enough to play Civ IV. *cries*

I am sooo buying an up-to-date desktop when I graduate and get a job in the summer...

I know how you feel....haha.

My desktop is 4 yrs old.......I have to turn all the graphics to lowest quality for Civ4 to function well.......Even then it screws up on me occasionally.

But the gameplay isn't that much affected unlike FPSs which rely heavily on graphics. One of the plus points of TBS.
