ok well I'm probably missing something obvious...but I'll ask anyway and see if anyone here can tell me what Im doing wrong.
I can't find a website that lets you download images in the photoshop format. It says that is has to be in jpg and tons of others. So when I tried to convert the file, it ended up being a lot smaller then what it said it was when I was editing it on photoshop. An example is this sig which is 450X200. This is the converted file which ended up smaller. [img:150:66:eb4ec04ba3]http://www.freewebs.com/simoon-a-source/FWThumbnails/testsigforweb-thumb.png[/img:eb4ec04ba3]
So pretty much I just want to know how you can convert photoshp files into another type without the size changing. Or a website that hosts images in photoshop format. |

Simoon >> Save the photoshop file in JPG format directly. In photoshop select File->Save as ...
In the dialog box you'll find a pop-up list of file formats. By default there is PSD (Photoshop). Change it to JPG, BMP or whatever you want and save it.

Thanks everybody for answering me, can't believe I didn't realize how to do it on my own lol.
I have a question on layer masking though......what is it?? Ive tried messing around with it but I can't seem to get it to work out for me.
If somebody could just quickly explain it to me I would really appreciate it. |

Simoon> Layer mask is like a layer embbed into the current layer to make it tranparent/transcluent. To edit the mask you need to select the Layer mask box beside the layer box in the layers window. In a layer mask, it's monochrome, means no colour, because none is needed. For example, if you used "hide all", the layer mask is completely white, and when you paint black onto the mask, the black part of the mask became the only revealing part of the real layer. If you use gradient on the mask, the layer will have a full image to a disappearing gradient.
bev> If you're trying to upload a photoshoped, "save as" into jpeg or similar format and upload it onto a image hosting site, like photobucket. |

Mostly, Rasterizing means to make a layer into an image. That's why it asks first before doing so, because for example:
1.) You rasterize a "text" layer, or any layer that is not an image layer to make it into an image layer. Notice the layer has a T icon, meaning, that it's a text layer.
[img:346:269:91a6b0295f]http://img506.imageshack.us/img506/7724/rasterize16we.jpg[/img:91a6b0295f]
2.) Once rasterized, it'll become an image layer. So that you could do things you usually do on an image. Now, look at it's icon. The T icon was replaced by a miniature image of what the text layer has become.
[img:346:269:91a6b0295f]http://img504.imageshack.us/img504/2184/rasterize27zq.jpg[/img:91a6b0295f]
So basically, it makes layers into an image layer....
As for the Masking... I'm not sure myself. Maybe it pertains to the Pen Tool? |
I feel for more picture instruction instead of words one.....
It makes thing easier....Just a suggestion....
You can say I am still a traditional artist that is learning to use photoshop....... _________________ [IMG:221:100:f6cec3048b]http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa284/sasukesrg/1184861571171.gif[/img:f6cec3048b] |

I have 256RAMS in my PC (thats very low)
and I was wondering...to make lots of layers do you need lots of RAMS?
or is it just the free space in the hard drive? _________________ Moments can be beautiful and fun

Well, in a way, yes, coz with many layers and low RAM, things will lag.
And yes, lesser free space in hardrive also contribute to slowing things down while working in Photoshop. |

Aethereality.net has some photoshop brushes that I've downloaded myself. I have Photoshop CS2, and I save it in Adobe Photoshop/Preset/Brushes folder.
When you open up Adobe Photoshop again, they will appear. |
deviantArt has tons of brushes uploaded all the time. Under the categories go to Resources & Stock Images > Application Resources > Photoshop Brushes. From there you can search for whatever brush. _________________
