Chapter 56 is out!
Why did alchemy fail for Ed in his battle with the Hohenheim lookalike? What are Ling's/Greed's true intentions? Wasn't that bearded man extremely callous for taking the philosopher's stone out of Gluttony's body?[spoiler]
I have never completed the anime, but has the manga deviated a lot from the anime? Is that a boon or a bane?
56 was great and looks like there is a new window of opportunity for our heros.

The anime and manga deviate alot from each other, but it wasn't really a bad thing. As you know the manga is great, but it is going at a very slow pace, so they had to change the plot of the anime. Probably close to half of it. However, unlike most animes that diverge from the manga plot, FMA manages to have an excellent reworked plot and is still well worth watching. In fact its one of my favorites.
Hope that helps make up your mind on watching it or not.
Yet,because of meddlin with characters they've almost ruined everything... Manga's pace may be kinda annoyin but thanks to that story is thrilling and so far there weren't as many lapses as in anime... _________________ Tempra la cetra e canta

full metal alchemist is a really organised manga. it seems to have a way in the philosophy in life, abt equal trade and things, those are life elemental. the characters are also great, with shorty older brother, ed and tall armour little brother, Al they embark on a journey to get back theit original bodies, of course. through equal trade _________________ it was vital for eve to pick the apple

I'v read a small interview the manga-ka of this series did....
Apperntly she/he wanted to do a manga about life....how you have to work to get the things you want...and always give somthing in return.....
Plus the comidy blending in so well with the drama....thats because he/she says that in life things happen....but humans arnt one do dwell on things for to long......plus...didnt want the series to be too gloomy....

ive started reading the manga, is soo cool, i cant bealive 2lt rose was killed by roy mustang, soo intense. the anime is cool too, at the same level as the manga i think some things were better in the anime than in the manga....thumbs up for alchemy yeeeeaaaaaaahhhh!!!!!!!!!
Well, it's unbelievable how can manga and anime be so diferent from a particular point on. Such a pity the anime covers so little of the original story, I prefer the manga storyline... Not to say the anime is bad, I really liked it too, but the manga is just so much better... and I have loved all those little details so far. Like the names of all military been from old war vehicles and the incredible design of some of the alchemy circles...

Chapter 57 is out! However, I am confused more than ever by the story. Maybe the month between the last chapter and 57 has prevented me from actually remember what happened last time.
Who is that man that yells at Mei and Ling's assistant? I forgot everything! Anyway, nothing particularly important happens, but the end of the chapter shows a strange image.
I'm up-to date on the FMA manga, it's pretty good so far but i still don't get this alchemy Equal trade thingy could someone explain this bit to me?

i havent read yet the chp 57 yet, but i think you mean doctor marcoh, and it was the ISHBALAN war, not talishban........ i wont make any comentaries about that.
well, ammmm......i think there are some things that were better in the anime than in the manga, for example, how homunculos are born, is better the way of the transmutation than the simple implant of the philosopher stone, the transmutation gives it more sence of a sin and its suposed to be that, try to play god and create human life is not right, its like frankenstein.....yeah thats the idea

Do you guys think that I would not know who Dr. Marcoh is after having read 57 chapters? He is the Crystal Alchemist, right? He is the one who Ed chased after for the philosopher's stone in the anime's beginning, right? I wasn't talking about him. He is the guy in this image:
