I just remembered something that PSU offers that not much other games do:
Breast Size (for female characters).
Anyways, here's a quick refresh on the available classes for Phantasy Star Universe (remember, the pictures are the offline characters):
Human
This is the most prosperous and important race in the Gurhal system. Humans are well-balanced and possess all-purpose skills. Since they are not weak to any one thing, humans can handle almost any job. On the other hand, they do not excel in any one particular area. Humans mainly live on Parum.

Newman
Newmen are the product of an effort to create a Human-based super race. They are stronger with mental abilities, but have inferior physical strength. Since Newmen are superior psychologically, they are skilled with techniques. Due to their physical weakness, Newmen lack close-combat skills. This race mainly lives on Neudaiz.

Beast
This race has had its genes altered to adapt to the harsh environmental conditions seen in resource mining. Their excellent strength makes them great at close-combat. On the other hand, they do not have the concentration required to properly use guns and techniques. Beasts also possess a special ability called "Nanoblast" which allows them to transform into a form with even greather strength. Beasts mainly live on Moatoob.
Casts were originally made to help to Humans and are currently controlled by the Parum-based Governing Committee. This race has lower psychic abilities when compared with the other races. As a result, they are not very skilled with techniques. However, Casts make up for this deficiency with high accuracy and skill with guns. They also have the ability to use gigantic "SUV-Weapons". Casts mainly live on Parum.

hmm...so there will be 4 classes? or was it really like that from the beginning? (Info pls^^)
ohhh...Breast Size^^...sounds Interesting^^.
now you're like tempting me to get this one V-boi...RAWR!!!
so humans are the most balanced race then right?
To answer a few things...
The first would be to forget the PSO character classes, they don't exist in the same way in PSU.
Although there are RAmar's, they no longer use Techniques. The only class that uses Techniques from the start, are forces. All other classes rely on their main battle type (Ranged for Rangers, Melee for Hunters) and although this comes as somewhat of a shock at first... It's not something that you'll never have access to. They do have Expert Classes that allow you to make hybrid like characters...
As far as the population of the servers go... It's hard to tell... Because PSU isn't a "Next-Gen" game... Alot of people weren't to thrilled about it in the X360 crowd. That's just the people that voiced there opinions though, it's possible that there are alot more people interested in this game that just haven't spoken up about it... Plus for an RPG fan with an X360, there's not really much of a variety out there... From what I've seen and the people I've talked to... Most of the people I know will be on the PC/PS2 version. I don't know many people that are into RPG's and own a 360 to begin with but that's only my personal experience. Hopefully the servers are decently populated for all platforms though. _________________ Running from your problems only wastes time... They always catch up either way.

The fee should be around $10. It should be around there if not less because I think PSO:BB (The PC only version) is like $8.95.
All races can be Force's, it's just that no one but Force's can cast techs. And next to Newman's, Humans have the highest TAP which is a key stat for being a Force. The classes that are like RAmar and HUmar are still there, they just aren't available without some work heh.
I've been tryin to keep up on info since I've been waiting on this game for a long time. _________________ Running from your problems only wastes time... They always catch up either way.

Yeah, I'm definitely a fan of this game although I don't think it's by choice... I was brainwashed most likely because PSO was not nice to me sometimes. By sometimes I mean most of the time, so why I continue to follow ST is beyond me. I guess I'm just real forgiving like...
And wow... That's a really distracting Sig v-boi... _________________ Running from your problems only wastes time... They always catch up either way.

There's been a nice bit of news about PSU this week. Firstly, they've updated their main site with an FAQ for people that don't know too much about the game. So if interested, they can view that info here.
Also, for those of you who own an Xbox 360 and have an Xbox Live Gold subscription, there will be a downloadable version of Phantasy Star Universe made available to you for an Open Beta. It's pretty much open although there may be some limitation on the number of people that can join in. You can read about that, here.
There's also, about 13/14 days until this game is officially released. For me, since I'm on the East Coast I was told it'd be in on the 25th... I don't really understand why it wouldn't just ship early and go on sale on the 24th though. >.>;; _________________ Running from your problems only wastes time... They always catch up either way.

I totally pre-ordered. XD
It's just that... Well... We have this whole "Your on the East Coast? Well screw you, it'll get there when it gets there" shipping method. Basically, they could send the game out a day early, and let everyone get it on the 24th. But it seems that they're just going to ship the game on the 24th, and most people will have it by the 25th-27th.
I did end up getting on the beta and it really did hook me into the game... Simply because it has the elements that I was looking for. The only thing that sucked, was that for the first few days people couldn't access the tutorial, so every party I had was filled with death haha. It was fun though, it's just what I expect and once all of the other content is released for the game... I'm sure most people who were looking forward to this game will be satisfied. It all depends on the person though, and as I am easily entertained, it's hard to take my word for anything.
There's still some things hidden about this game that'll be exposed once more of the content is released. I hope this also sheds some light on the expansion which is still under debate to whether it's an actual expansion or a string of story related missions for online.
This game should have a 30 day free trial for Online (It's not confirmed yet), I'm pretty sure it does... So even if you don't plan to continue playing it, check it out. It may or may not hook you in. I was already hooked from the beginning though. _________________ Running from your problems only wastes time... They always catch up either way.

That unfortunately happened to me when I came in to pick my pre-order of Tales of the Abyss. They just kill the hype with "oh, we don't get the shipment in until tomorrow". Grr.
My guess is that expansion may indeed be for the online, because originally, Leia can only be encountered in online misisons.
