ya i have sleep problems to because i stay up really late just to play games and by doing to i tend to not do my homework and thus resulting in my failing my classes _________________ two goals in life
-rule the world
-sleep till noon
well i also think a lot in my bed time so to coounter this i usually just waste around and try to sleep but if i still can't then i usually think about boring thing then usually i sleep even with out noticing(and usually too some sound usually pop out of no where and wake me up again
anyway do not think exciting things or it will make you can't sleep at all
then this is from my exp so i don't know how it will effects you
I usually go to bed around 4-6 AM in the morning on weekdays. This is horrible, because as a student, it really effects my performance in class. I've also been falling asleep in my classes, which in turn, effects my grades.
did it occur to you that sleeping at 4-6 in the morning just might be the problem you're looking for?
Another thing id suggest is to get really comfortable, i just kind of found this out because before when id go to sleep id be flexing a bit at my neck, however you really have to let your head fall forward. A few things to get mor comfortable is use a im not sure what their called i thinkg their claled comforters where they are like huge flat pillows that cover bottom half of your bed, it helps me. Also i like high pillows it helps me relax easier so you mite want to try use those. Last of all i didnt catch if you said your against caffienne but energy drinks can really tire you out later, you mite want to try using them untill you get in a habbit of earlier sleep. I have to say, it's improved quite a bit in the past couple of days.
Instead of sleeping around 6... it's down to 2 AM... I say that's an improvement.
Thanks for all the help and advice everyone, I'm trying everything you're telling me... they're all better alternatives to drugs.
Me = Don't wanna be dependant on sleeping pills. _________________ [IMG:432:143:0a18b764ae]http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c315/Reiswinds/betternastysigD.gif[/img:0a18b764ae]

My body is sorta used to the lack of sleep.
But there are times when it just stops function and I black out in class.

I know that's the problem, I just want to figure out why my body doesn't allow me to sleep at earlier times. I really try but, it just doesn't work most of the time. _________________ [IMG:432:143:0a18b764ae]http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c315/Reiswinds/betternastysigD.gif[/img:0a18b764ae]

Teenagers naturally have volatile sleeping patterns due to all that changes going on in their bodies. _________________ [img:309:200:9b3695521e]http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/8583/dobedobedojs0.jpg[/img:9b3695521e]

i highly suggest you stay away from sleeping pills unless you have no other choice, other wise you will wind up like my brother who has to take sleeping pills every nite to sleep,
i have the same problem you do, i end up staying up really late, but unlike you, i skip alot of class to sleep in, i can't say its lack of sleep for me, its just not sleeping at the right time, i've tried waking up at normal school time on the weekends so that my body can adjust to the time shift in my sleeping hours, but can't say that works for cause i end up just going back to sleep and not waking up until about 3 p.m. or so,
ooh yea if you work out right before you sleep that tends to wake you up even more, i tend to sleep early durring tennis season cause of the constant motion i'm in practicing and playing matches, sports in the after noon, is a sure way to sleep early
ooh yea one final thought, get your girl friend or get a girl friend and have wild sex for as long as you can last, you will surely pass out from that _________________ [IMG:392:356:02d7b2c081]http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d122/V16Dragon/kenshin.jpg[/img:02d7b2c081]

The wild sex I have is only good for napping, and we only do it during the afternoons since we don't live together. -___-;
If she could be with me at night... that'd be a different story. _________________ [IMG:432:143:0a18b764ae]http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c315/Reiswinds/betternastysigD.gif[/img:0a18b764ae]
I wouldn't know what I call myself but I am the strangest sleeper. I have absolutely no sleeping pattern.
I used to sleep regularly at 11ish until high school. Then assignments start kicking in and I don't sleep till 1 am. Usually I have to wake up at 8 am. Because there is a pattern you can fall asleep pretty easy.
The problem comes when you lose your sleeping pattern. This happened when I got in university. There's a final, so you pull an all-nighter. You are at a friend's place having fun, so you pull an all-nighter. Before you know it it'll be 3 am and you are feeling like you are as awake as you can ever be!
I've tried lots of stuff to fix this problem, like drinking a bit before you sleep, or exercise during the day to burn yourself out. But those are not effective solutions.
The best way is to fix it the way you break it, by staying up. Just for one day, set your alarm clock to 8 am, and wake up at 8 am. Have absolutely no sleep for the rest of the day, you'll feel tired by 12pm for sure. That'll fix you up. Once you get the pattern going, your body will get used to it and you'll be fine.
Personally, I gave up all-together. I had my final exams last week, and I slept at 4 am, 6 am, 7 am, no sleep, 8 am, no sleep, respectively. Now I just go to sleep when I am tired, and stay up otherwise.

I've tried reading, excersising and even play my favorite, relaxing, classical tunes on. Yet, I still have problems going to bed.
I don't suggest the excersise. It would just wake you up more. When you excersise, your heart pumps more blood and oxygen throughout your body, and your muscles keep contracting. This makes you breath faster, which is not very relaxing.
just OD yourself or take lots of sleeping pills, and if that doesnt work knock yourself out...it works, knocking yourself out i used to do it
I don't suggest this one, too. My mom tried those pills where she can relax and acts like a sleeping pill at the same time. However, we got the opposite output, she's always cranky and just keeps on walking around 'till dawn. My dad researched on this and found a site where many cases such as my mom occured before, who are also taking the same pills.

run around like crazy, play lots of sports, anything basically that will tire u out completely.
cuz then u go home and straight to bed.
take a hot bath, probably not shower. according to chinese people, the best way to fall asleep is a nice long hot bath. it works for me.
I agree with ani_master. Just change your sleeping patterns. If you can get yourself to sleep early for just one day, this pattern will continue the following day. And a warm bath is good too. As for me, a nice glass of warm milk or soup would knock me out easily. Try it.

It doesn't even matter if the teacher is staring right at me, I'd fall asleep infront of her. I don't mean to... it's just I'm really worn out.
How about trying that one? Think of your teacher when you want to sleep, since you sleep infront of her and all. Just kidding. ^_^

as for staying awake at night. dont think, sleep! i command u to sleep.
I agree on this one, too. Believe me, I've tried that. I was so excited about our movie watching the next day that I never actually got any sleep and was so tired that I fell asleep throughout the whole movie.

I usually listen to music, mostly chili peppers or funk, at a real low volume. It just seems to help me sleep a lot better :/, also being more active during the daytime can help you since it makes you a lot more tired.
Yeah, some actually say that too. My sis suggested listening to recorded beach waves(the ones that hit the shores, soft ones) or calm rain. It relaxes you and your mind.

over the summer i had to drug myself to sleep cuz i would always stay up til 3 in the morning watching t.v. so when it was time to go to school, i wouldnt go to sleep until 12 and lie in bed til 1:30 and i would always wake up late, so my solution was druging my self to sleep. xP
