My friends and I have noticed that there is usually a correlation between the breast size of a female character and her power in anime and video games. Think about how well-endowed Tsunade is and her being the Hokage of Hidden Leaf. Anyone else think there's something to it?

that is a good point tho.
think about it, if a flat or small chested girl said that shes the strongest, would u take her seriously?
i guess its just that because breast take a long time to develop, its another way of saying that theyve spent a lot of time training. and so their breasts grew plenty.
think that made sense....
but u would take a girl with big breasts more seriously than a girl with small ones. think tomoko and fuyutsuki from gto. who would u pay more attention to?

another reason i guess is for fanservice. everyone loves fan service.
otherwise, i have no idea...

I would have to agree that there seems to be a rule that way, however as with all rules there are exceptions. For example Sailor Moon or Sailor Saturn. Also Himeno from Pretear.

there are always exceptions, but mostly those powerful characters happen to be the ones that need to live for a longgg time..(since they're so powerful, they aren't going to go out easily..) so...they have to be made "attractive" to men, I guess (or whatever group is the target group)

Then again, you can barely name a non-trivial character in anime/manga that does not have big breast.. so maybe it's just that everyone is like that..so..haha

if you think about it do people really want to see a small tittied girl as being a powerful character that shows up alot
people want to see big tits on a main character cuz thats what makes them want to see more of them thats why they dont have little ones unless their just kids but im talking about mid-teens to adults

guys are perverts we want tits nice, big, and round

and in my opinion more guys watch anime then girls so the animators really just plays for the dominant crowd
just think about your top 5 anime/manga i bet theres some big tittied girls in it

a great anime/manga consists of
1 great story
2 great art
3 lovable charcters
4 a hot girl with big tits

hmm this is a very interesting observation. i think you may be right!
i have a suspicion that people with bigger heads (literally) have a stronger presence and more dominating personalities in real life. not sure if its true or not though.
well, the traditional powerful woman archetype is the femme fatale who uses her sexuality to manipulate men.
the most obvious source of power for women is their sexuality i guess. perhaps the Naruto people gave Tsunade huge knockers to counter balance her 'male' personality. that kendo girl from Bleach is an exception although a flawed one since she merely immitates male traits.
the only anime girls i can think of who are strong figures and dont have huge boobs yet retain their femininity are Miyizaki's heroines and the girl from Blood+. Nausicaa is a good example.
who's complaining anyway? not me but i have say that Tsunade's chest is preposterous. she was definitely a pornstar in one of her past lives.

(and in, frankly speaking, very sexual position too...)

And there is a demo game (still in development or something) where it was a fighting game, but to effieciently reduce their health bar, you need to take pics of the panties...

Well a simple answer for this is that sex/sex appeal sales stuff. Think about, what are most mazines, programs, films, pop tunes dominated by? pretty ppl, thats what! the industry is the same everywhere, wether it be in west or east, no body wants to see a female lead character that isnt hot/cute. And anime/manga is no different, its just that emphasis is put on the chest slightly more than usual because the characters are not real ppl, so the artist can let his imagination and...urm...fantasies, let a little more loos than usual.

(I hope i explained this alright, I'm not good at getting my points across).

hmm....loving big boobs seems like a psychologically natural for some men since some men unconsciously think big boobs = fertility. From a Freudian perspective everything seems in order. As for lolicons... I don't know. OOops..ranting too much again.
