Xbox360 launch in Japan, I feel sad for microsoft

man, if the xbox 360 goes japan, then gates is gonna be pissed. i mean japan has nintendo and we have microsoft so japan should just keep nintendo and not try to hog the industry

He, wise words... the console RPGs havent changed at all since the SNES. Sure, better graphics, FMV, and more eye candy. But the core is the same.

Is everything invented? The originality is dead? The J-RPGs reached the perfection with the FF6/7?

Lets... er... mix a Dating Sim with a RPG!! ... aww... Atlus already did it? ... Damn... they stole my idea! Very Happy

Anyways... this thread is about the X-Box 360... I think that the 360 will fail because, like the X-BOX, has "PC style games". And the japanese consumer want more "console games".

Wait till Microsoft release FFXI, DOA4, Blue Dragon and Lost Oddysey for the 360.

Those games are subject to criticism. We know nothing about them, and like Fantasy Online, be completely cancelled. Xbox's past actions support that my level of criticisms.

By the way Final Fantasy XI was a horrible game, both in general and as an mmorpg. Why are they releasing FFXI (a last generation game) on next generation console. What exactlyt makes FFXI better on the xbox360. Are you telling me that people would rather pay 400 dollars for a next gen console for FFXI? Why not just make FFXI could have easily been ported on the original xbox. I have no clue what microsoft is thinking about. If they think FFXI will get them rpg fans or FF fans to join in the xbox fan club, they are entirely mistaken.

Until i see original rpgs actually released in the US and Japan, I won't be satisfied. I don't hate the xbox360, I just have very low expectations due to the horrible work they did in Japan. You can tout all the games done by Team Ninja, but just one developer is not enough to justify buying a 400 dollar next gen console.

Ummm, byrc, Blue Dragon and Lost Oddysey are from Mistwalker, you probably know that; the studio founded by Sakaguchi, the former director of various FF titles and Kingdom Hearts.
BTW, you and probably a lot of FFplayers doesn't like the fightsystem in FFXI, well I recomment you not to play FFXII 'cause the fightsystem is the same and yes there are players who buy a 360 for playing FFXI and it's not me(I hate FF since the 7).

Yes I did know about Mistwalker, but as I expressed before, just 1 or 2 developers aren't enough to keep a console afloat.

I'm still pessimistic about the xbox360 in the Japanese market context. The american market is a different animal all together.

Also keep in mind that the release dates for those RPGs are farther into the future. Xbox360 doesn't have the luxury to just sit on its ass in japan. Those games should have been planned for near release dates. Look at Dead or Alive 4. Delay after delay. Will these games be the saving grace for the xbox360 in Japan? I don't know. All I'm saying is if you go by past actions, which is how most people and companies are judged by, the xbox360 does not seem to be going into the right direction. There has been many and I mean many planned Japanese only games for the original xbox, but unfortunately cancelled or had so little support that the games ended up being of low quality.

Microsoft has to take the Japanese market seriously, and they have to understand that just making a more slim-line Japanese friendly looking console won't help them get out of the hole that they are in.

Please keep in mind this is all within the context of the japanese video game industry and market. I have high expectations for the xbox360 in America. I think its a console with great potential and well managed. It is an American system, for the American market. However since video games are becoming more internationally popular they have to keep in mind of their new markets.

I have an issue with the xbox360 only because I have similar tastes to Japanese gamers, therefore I hope they learn from their past mistakes.

By the way, I know people will hate me for this, but as far as I'm concerned the Xbox360 isn't any different from the Dreamcast. Yet, unlike the dreamcast it actually has a market to crawl back too when it finds itself drowning in Japan. I really, really, hope that xbox360 does not end that way, but until I see real Japanese Developer support and actual games released (not delayed or TBA projects), I won't be satisfied.

This is just like how the original xbox was in Japan... They just dont care about microsoft, and i think nintendo will take advantage of that when the revolution comes out (in 12 months)
