After watching Naruto in the original Japanese I can't bring myself to watch it on CN. I also have to skip One Piece because of the travesty it has become. I know some people probably love it but I just can't bring myself to watch something so much different than it's original form.
Cartoon Network is ok but it was better when they had toonami they'd show what they had of an anime and then do re runs so you could see a good portion of the series before they started doing reruns and you knew that they would show the ending of the series you were watching now your lucky to see past the half way point in anime on cartoon network. I don't really mind the dubs their on tv and thus free for most people and I can't argue with that price.
"Free" is a matter of perspective, you do pay for cable.
Cartoon network is good for anime because it exposes a wide audience to recent shows, who can then buy them on DVD and see them as they were meant to be seen.
It is also good because the US companies make quite a bit of $$$ when their show gets picked up, helping them bring more shows over. The moral is, if you want anime released on DVD faster, you should buy current DVDS and watch/support the shows on TV to help out the companies bringing the content over.
CN, to an extent, seems to be a good thing for anime, helping to spread it. however, some issues i find with it is their choice of anime at times. As long as they post ones that are actually good, then it's fine, but when they show bad ones and cause new people to think that anime is bad in general because of those ones, then it just hurts it.
