The game is horrible, don't even think of buying it. The horrible voice acting is one of the many reasons not to play the game. If you are one of those Cartoon Network Babies than I guess it's your cup of tea. If not stay away from this game.

Other than voice acting, the game also has horrible controls, it feels like playing a 1st generation 3D game. Not only that, the action combat elements are horribly stale. If you really want to play an Action RPG I have other recommendations.

Why not try out:
Dark Could 1/2
.Hack series
any of the Tales series (deep inside its almosts a traditional rpg)
Kingdom Hearts
Y's Ark of Napithism

Just stay away from Anime RPGs. I can't stop thinking about the horror of the Salior Moon, Ranma 1/2, and Record of Lodoss Wars rpgs for the SNES. OMG THE HORROR!

Did you have to use Cartoon Network babies? It really wasn't nice... but I'll have to agree with you on the games. Don't touch a game with Full Metal Alchemist on the box... just don't do it. All of the games byrc suggested are far better then any games having to do with Full Metal Alchemist.

Hm...I think thread about this game already exist...

Anyway, I've finished playing this game last year, and I think this game is not so bad after all, at least worth to be played by FMA fan...
The gameplay, though not really good, but still got into me...
Anywway, among all 3 FMA games, I think the newcoming FMA 3 is a little better...(can unlock Roy Mustang, better systems...)

yup, the voicing of the characters we're so terrible.which just proves that some original voices must not be altered.and the gameplay isnt that good either.one of the games that i regretted buying.stay away from it!

I found the voices more annoying than bad, mainly Alfonse because of his monotonous voice that repeats just about everything the manga says. And I found the graphics to be a little less than desirable. Even fans of the FMA series should be disappointed by this game and with most anime-based games because they rush them out without a second thought. Definitely not a buy, rent it though if you're really interested, you should be able to beat it in a day or two.

Mmm.. Actually I really liked the FMA: Broken Angel game.. It was a fresh style and it has a lot of sense with the series, when the sequel came out I didn't hesitate to buy it, it's very entertaining.. and talking about the dubs, the anime scenes where in japanese with subtitles.. didn't have any complaints there, I highly recomend it =DD

I love FMA however I would advise to stay away from this game. It is a promising concept to do this game, however it didn't live up to my standards of game play

I'm not saying that it wasn't fun or anything, but I do think they need to slow down a bit and really focus on making strong elements in the game because, like most anime games, they add a few things and ship it out. But Alfonse put me to sleep, honestly. He's cool in the anime and it's the same voice, but I think he did talk a bit too long (though that's just my opinion).

Well as a rule of thumb, games from anime are pretty bad. They rely on the fans to buy it, not the gameplay. But remember that if you want to buy it don't let us change your mind. Renting sounds like a good idea, try before you buy, because I dont think FMA is one of those $9.99-$19.99 games yet.

I thought the voices were done by the english cast though.

You know that .Hack is an anime and manga too right? The game was sort of interesting though.

If you're a fan you should go ahead and buy it for the sake of collecting, but if not, then you should at most rent this game. I think this game really had some improvments over the first game, but it still lacks in many areas. The voice acting isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be, but maybe I've gotten too comfortable with the voices from Cartoon Network.

I agree with blackflames8, Alfonse voice got a bit annoying but the game played fairly well so rent it if you're really interested.
