Secret Mangaka's Manga drawings

Hi, I'm new to anime-source and I notice that a Manga Contest has started. I would like to submit some preliminary drawings to the Anime-Source community. I would love to hear any comments. I just did these pics today, so sorry if they suck, and I would like to know what you guys think about them.

Tell me if you guys think I have a chance. Again, these are just test drawings for my main character and some of them are just variations.

I'm new to screen tones so please forgive me if it's not great quality.

Okay so I felt like writing a little about this sketch. I really didn't know what to draw so I basicly just started with an eye, and I guess the picture just seemed to form itself around it. I really wanted something that was interesting to look at, so hopefully I pulled that off a bit... Overall I think the sketch came out okay... well for a sketch that is Surprised

Okay so I figure I would also say a few things about this picture... hmmm well this one was a drawing I did in the car while my parents were driving... I have to say I got pretty sick since I can't really draw much in a car heh... I get motion sickness Sad

. Anyways I'm not totally happy with this picture but I really wanted to get something done today so I even if it was Christmas so I could post it up. Sorry this drawing was rushed...but I tried to clean it up as much as I could. BTW Thanks so much you guys for looking at my work. It would really mean a lot to me if you guys could let me know what you think. Thanks Again!

your an absolute genius in the making...

i love your style, its close to video girl ai, just more detailed...

anyway, the manga competition need a storyline, so be prepared to create 1, and the manga needs at least 1-2 pages of art... so be prepared to draw more in the coming 5 days, thats till the deadline... hope to see more of you, your a true gem....absolutely wonderful, your talents almost surpassed ghost evolution san, but its hard to compare, as the style is different, his are most cartoony type, yous is more humanly...

I really loves all the pic, nice drawing and good detailed face...
a question... are you using pro art tool or just basic pen and pencils? coz the tone of each part is different and really make it nicer...

me too wish you can participate in the manga competition... can wait to see more of your artwork...

Holy...

somehow that style reminds me of Nana, and/or Paradise Kiss. But all in all, it was a pretty good... no "pretty good" is an understatement... a helluva nice drawings there

Wow.

I think you deserve a bragging right.... Haha. Now that's a fantastic piece you've drawn there. Your style is quite Gothic, reminds me of my friend... she likes to draw vampires, masks, dolls and those lolitas.... and frills. Gosh, she loves those frills and shadows too..... Very Happy

I really think you'll win at least something from the contest, if your manga will contain drawings such as these ones. I really liked the first one.....

It's gothic lolita style, similar to what was done in Alichino. It gain a huge mainstream following after it popped up in the Paradise Kiss manga back in 2001. Now it's pretty played out since the Japanese media pretty much ran it through the ground. By the way this style is usually called EGL or Elegent Gothic Lolita style. I'm amazed on how good it looks, but it does have some major issues that need to be resolved.

The last 3 pics are nothing more than variations of the 2nd using screen tones, similar to what shoujo mangakas do. You an see that this guy was probably heavily influenced by early mid 90s Clamp art styles like Rg Veda, Card Captors Sakura, X/1999, and Yū Watase's early works like Fushigi Yugi and Ayasha no Ceres.

I personally like the first one of out of all of them. Yet, I still have reservations concerning how well an actual finished project will work. We haven't seen body, limbs, or fingers, which is actually one of the harder things to do. This guy might actually suck at drawing fingers and body positions, while being extremely talented with facial portraits.

I look forward to official pictures and not these rudimentary sketches.

Please give me more.

ouchy, byrc, thats kinda harsh dont you think, comon, this guys really great to be able to attain this level of drawing, dont say he sucks... give him abit of the respect he deserves as an artist... any artist no matter good or bad does deserve a tad bit of respect for his effort put in to give his art to you...

The better the artist, the more critical I am. The guy has real talent and skill, I'll give him that. I'm just being critical because that is what he wanted, an honest opinion.

He doesn't need people to tell him he's the greatest. He needs people to actually guide him in a better direction and give him real honest suggestions.

I hope no one took my comments as unduly harsh, but people should actually write their opinion on this thread. The guy is definitely asking an honest opinion out of the anime-source community, and we should give it to him.

I'm not trying to tear the guy down, we just need actual full body pictures to really give genuine suggestions.

I'm sorry if what I wrote sounded harsh.

You'r so good!! I love this gothic lolita thing you got going on, the third tone pic remind me of xxxholic from CLAMP.

You realy should think of doing you'r own comic....OH!! join me!! we could be the new CLAMP team on the block, I will sponge off you'r talent~jks.

Honistly, very good work, did you have to do a basic stucture before drawing the outer details? if not, then I am realy amazed...
