Download this codec pack and it should play *almost* all the video file you need.

I just finished Downloading KAA's Full Metal panic(1-24) but once i played it....there was no sound at ALL.

and I don't know what kind of audio codec I need. Help please.

Download the K-Lite codec pack from the above link.

After installed, go to Start Menu button\K-Lite Codec Pack Folder\Tools\GSpot Codec Information

Run GSpot and open the video file you downloaded, it should identify which codec you need.

Most KAA encodes need an AC3 filter. Try to get that filter.

The K-Lite Codec Pack standard has worked for me for every downloaded video file I've ever needed to play. I use Media Player Classic which comes with the pack and it plays OGMs, MKVs, as well as AVIs and other weirder formats (DIVX files). As a side note, in my experience the codecs that K-Lite installs do not work with anything but playing video, so if you want to make your own stuff with a program like Windows Movie Maker you will need to download the codecs seperately from the codecs' websites.

something's wrong with the "He is my Master ep. 11"? when I downloaded it...it was "avi" but when I finished DL'ing it...it's...extension became "file"...not "avi"...does anyone also have this problem?

Are you able to change the file type?
Right Click>Properties>Opens with:Change

If you have winamp you might be able to view it if you 'Open With' Winamp.

try changing the extention, ie. manually renaming it and changing the .file to .avi

err...nevermind that...it was my fault in the first place. I found out why it became like that. It's fixed by re-downloading it.

Just to share for these codecs / container woes(sp)..

Go to this site http://www.kickassanime.org/wiki/index.php?title=Compack and then dl cccp insurgent, uninstall the codec packs the cccp insurgent detected then install cccp. Will work with most of the files be it .mkv .ogg havin AAC audio or H.264 video..

I haven't installed it on my main PC(it works on my other PC) still using independent codec filters and codecs (not packs) but its showing its gettin old and outdated coz I can't play some newer .mkv files.

same size ,same bitrate ,resolution..

But to encode with h.264 you need 27 minutes ,with Xvid only 6 minutes ..so why h.264 should be better ,since also so Pc-resources hungry??..

It's obvious that more advanced codec needs more time to encode. Stop concentrating on resources, that's the images that matter in the link I gave... Oh, I also don't know why we were moved here Confused
