Okay, i'm gonna start with Right of Left.. so.. SPOILERS!

yeah, i know what you mean.. but.. it was the most logical explanation for their deaths, i mean.. you don't honestly think that they should just've died off in some random place AFTER they came back to the island... and even so, the assimilation phenomenon would've killed them eventually, so why not just give them a nice death scene.. and make it look better? know what i mean? And i think this prequel shows that tasumiya island or however you spell it.. has evolved alot in terms of..technology, most of the pilots couldnt last 60 days in right of left, and now by the end of fafner, kazuki is the only one that shows abit of assimilation phenomenon out of the 5 pilots at the end... Oh yeah, and the translator of mendoi pointed out something interesting, it should be called left of right, and not right of left.. =p... oh and mark 1 wasnt really designated for soushi.. since he F A I L E D in trying to pilot it... =p

anyway, leoxjm pretty much covered the fafner part..so.. i'll shuttup about that.. =p

Well, finally got started with Eureka seven (as reccommended). Looks interesting, even though I am only on ep 9. So far there isn't much in the way of a storyline (as you guys said), but it is interesting enough to keep at it right now. I have to admit that the notion of a surfing mecha seemed pretty sketchy to me at the beginning, but in execution it works pretty well. The animators are doing a pretty good job too. Well, wasn't Bones in charge of RahXephon anyway? That was also a good one. Hopefully it will pick up soon. Poor Renton has had to put up with a lot of crap so far... By now I would have punched someone. Well, not like he's too smart a guy in the first place.

Yay you started watching it Very Happy, well at first it's just to set abit of mood and get to know them abit etc. But your about the hit the intressting part of the anime or rather when it picks up in story. Well let us know what you think about it once it picks up storywise and such, can't wait until the next eps comes... ohh I want to watch.
But yeah bones did RahXephon as well another of mech anime I liked alot. It was abit weird some stuff I didn't really get, but I liked that ep when he says he'll protect his friend, that girl from before he knew anything about the world. Maybe you remember what I mean anyway that was the ep that I remembered most of all.
Now all that is left is that jckool try it out

Oh, that was probably the best episode of RahXephon EVER. It was a really sad episode too but it was pretty well done. They also kept that fight for the movie version, but with all the changes and the cuts that you would expect froma movie the whole thing was far less moving.

Well, Right now I'm downloading eps 20+ of E7. I watched until 19 last night (err.. this morning, actually). Right now it is geting pretty interesting. Lets see what jckool thinks of it too.

leo: You serious? So you watched 20 eps in one day? Didn't know you'd get that hooked on it. But it's pretty good don't you think?
I never saw the movie I've wanted to watch it but I never found it. Also been thinking of buying all of RahXephon since I think it's pretty good and all.
Bones also has Escaflowne on their list so that's another mecha they did. Actually they have alot of good ones on their list such as Wolf Rain, Cowboy Bebop and Full Metal Alchemist.

jckool: If you don't want to see it then don't, you shouldn't feel forced to watch it. From what I know it's not licenced yet so you probably can't buy them unless you import them from Japan. Well good luck on your exams etc.

By the way have anyone seen Z.O.E Idolo?

Escaflowne is a pretty good Anime. I didn't finish it, but I like what i saw. it is the only Mecha anime that a cousin of mine likes. She hates the movie version beacuse she says the series is better. My only experience so far with a series-to-movie anime has been with RahXephon, and I liked the series better. The movie is a bit rushed and a lot of stuff has to be changed to fit the new format. Although I do like the movie version, the series is way better.

Yep, I powered through E7 from 1 through19 last night. I liked it a lot. I'm still working on the other episodes, but I'll probably be done by tomorrow. It is a pretty cool series so far... Withholding further comment on it unti I watch more, 'cause I'm still in ep 21.

At least Kay got to comment indirectly on the locked thread... It got locked before jckool and I could butt in with our stuff....

Anyway.. what to talk about now? all your talk of eureka seven is making me want to watch it even sooner... T________T

I feel so ignored... Crying or Very sad it's all your fault jckool because you said I was ignored in your pm... Crying or Very sad lol just joking

Well Eureka is still ongoing they've subbed 25 eps so far out of 50 and from the best I can tell they've aired about 37 eps so far. Hmm seems your right kaykay it is licenced alredy I don't know who bought it but seems like it'll be coming out anyway.

Kay: You know it took me awhile to find that post among our long debates. I had to go through most of the pages before I found it. Well at least I remembered that you had posted about it before... feel like I have no life if I got the time to do that. So what do you think of the third vol of fafner? Or did you alredy comment that and I missed it.
leo, jckool: Did you really wanted to post there? I can be nice and unlock it for a fee muhahahaha. It took me about a month before I really started watching E7. I downloaded the first 9 eps and thought I'd give it a shot saw the first 3 eps or so and thought they were so so at best nothing that intressted me that much. So I figured I'd stop watching it until mistabean said it get's better once it hits double digits and what do you know Im completely hooked on it now.

I actually watched the movie first and then the tv series... I saw the last eps without sound... it kind of ruined the mood since you couldn't hear anything or the music. But I thought it was pretty good except for a few things that was just strange. And how come Im included in the "we all think escaflowne was good" or maybe Im not... hmm... well you were right anyway
Oh and kay it's actually the movie that bones made sunrise made the tv series I think, if that helps you in the decicion on if your going to pick Eureka up or not.

Might as well ask and try and see if we can get something out of it even if you ignored my Z.O.E question. What was the first mecha anime you guys saw?
For me if we count in cyborgs as mecha and not just giant robots it would be Cyborg 009... ahh how I want to watch it again. Only thing is I don't remember anything from it at all.
Giant robot wise it was a few diffrent ones at the same time, I don't know the names of them but I remember abit from them. One was this show about these 3 guys and they had 3 airships or something that could be turned into a mech or diffrent mechs since every ship could be the leg, body and head of the robot.
The second is a guy and his mech think he was working for somekind of organisation. He had his mech on some kind of small ship that it could be dropped from inside a mountain or something where the organisation base where. Remember how he made such a fuss over it when they were going to remove the ship and add another ship that was piloted by someone since the old one didn't need a pilot other then him. He was all I can do this on my own I don't need his help. Think the mech was black and red, the second ship was made so it grabbed the mech by the waist while it was flying kind of like the ones in fafner only diffrent.

hey!! i never said escaflowne was bad.....i said escaflowne the series LOOKS horrible..lol. well @ least that's wat i meant to say...but i suppose i can't really judge since i have never seen the series myself...i'm just going off of wat others have told me.

but like i said before..i thought the movie was excellent. i heard it was totally diff. from the series and that the dragon armor wasn't like a rare or scarce thing to find unlike how it was in the movie~! but wow the battle between the dragons with the music in the background is just excellent in the movie~!

GG> i can't believe u even remembered that!! i looked @ it and i was like...wow......i totally forgot i posted that..lol. good memory GG~! Smile ~! AHA Leo and offtopicz were left in the dust in that thread..lol...jp w/ yaz~!

well first mech series i saw.....well isn't it obvious?..lol...it was the power rangers!..LOL!!

ok seriously it was gundam wing ...sigh** hugs series**..lol. but to tell u the truth GW might not have been my 1st mecha series....i think i watched a lotta the old gundam series b4 hand and it's just not imbeded into my memory cuz it didn't impact me that much. but def. GW was the series that influenced me the most.~!

lol...GG i remember that show...cyborg 009 or watever it was called...they played it last year on cartoon network or watever~! i thought it had potential...but honestly the series went no where...not like CN ever really finished the series though, but still....it felt blanned after watching it for quite some time and it just didn't add any more punch or stimulus to maintain my interest~!

My first mecha anime was actually my first anime EVER and it was Mazinger Z. Seriously, I LOVED Mazinger when I was a kid. It was already an old show when i watched it, but I remember that I loved it. The episode where Aphrodite gets destroyed was really sad... Although i did also remeber thinking that Aphodite was worthless because it couldn't kick nearly as much ass as the mazinger.... Well, that is child thinking for you. I was thinking of watching it again. I'll see of I can find it. Sorry... I haven't seen Zone of Enders. The only mecha stuff I saw after mazinger was Voltron and the transformers, but i don't know if that counts.

Now, I only got really into anime a bit more than a year ago, and the first mecha anime I watched then was Gundam Seed. A friend had it and we saw the entire thing in 3 days, so that is probably why I remember it fondly... I think it was the first Series I watched until the end too... or was it Hellsing? Well, whatever.....

About the other thread thing, i was just kidding. When I noticed it it had long been locked although i did think it was amusing to see a quote of Kay from that old thread... I thought you'd just re-direct or something.

Ahh... Eureka seven. It is a pretty awesome series. I really like it now, although it really started just average. Kinda like fafner. Which reminds me.. did Kay watch Right of Left? I haven't heard a word about it. It was pretty good. You should.

Ok... that was a tangent... Anyway, I guess that catching up to E7 in 3 days really helps you get into it. Rolling Eyes . Ummm... eisen is the only one whose seen it here, right? I should probably post more detailed stuff on it in its own thread. Well, what I CAN say is that it is a pretty fresh look at mecha. At least to me. And you've gotta like the Beams. They are cool people.

ahaha LEO i remember voltron~! dude i thought it was actually pretty interesting.....was it an anime? i don't think so ...but who knows now a days~!

naw i didn't get to see right or left...probably won't untill it is out over here!...member i'm only on disc. 3 of fafner.....4th disc is coming out on tues~! so i gotta jump on that. oh yea and to ans. GG's ques. cuz i forgot to in my last post> yea i watched vol.3. i think i commented on it awhile bak. i think that's when u guys answered my ques. that from piloting the fafners one suffers from a slow process of assimilation!~!

Umm.. yeah, I didn't know if Voltron counted because it is an American show (I think), so that is why I just listed it as Mecha "stuff".

Well, I don't know if RoL is licenced yet... I don't think it is... I'll be on the lookout for a dvd version too. I want to get that. While browsing for a confirmtion on the licence I bumped into some statistics in a rant on myotaku.com. Apparenty Fafner's most popular episode is ep. 16 (24% of the votes), which should be in dvd 4. the second and third, respectively were 26 (the final, 20%) and 20 (10%). I think that my favorite is 26 too, followed closely by 23. That one was great too.
