Like I've said before I'd rather they just killed Kira at the end of GS it would have so been such a great ending if he'd just died. Also half expected but still surprising with a great impact. I always liked the mood and the fighting in the last GS compared to GSD it had so much more emotions and impact. And Kira wasn't a God there like he was in GSD, since the only way for Kira to get hit in GSD is so that he can get a new "cooler" MS I bet he'd never had been hit otherwise.

leo: spoiler for Fafner so no peaking kay I felt like she died to soon, when I think about her I go: She were best friends with Maya, she had some sickness and had a crush on Kazuki. That's pretty much it, yeah she had a few other things but I felt that most of the time she was going Kazuki... Kazuki and thinking about nothing else other then him. That's why I didn't feel much for her when she died.
And all the other character were comparing themself to much with Kazuki, not all of them but that other girl was going if Kazuki could do it then I should to etc. Then was it Kenji that was always challenging Kazuki and thus competing against him. Maya so had a cruch on Kazuki, Soushi were going I trust no one else but Kazuki or something like that. And Cannon seemed to develop a cruch on Kazuki as well, she wasn't as obvious as the others but since he was the first one to get through her "guard" I'd say she was. And then there's that guy who had a crush on Shouko he was going "Im not like Kazuki, I'll never abandon my friends even if I die etc". The only one who wasn't going about Kazuki all the time was the guy who was into manga and wore the cosplay helmet when he piloted fafner and that girl who was obsesed with Maya or went on about her nonstop "Maya-senpai is so cool". Ohh yeah Tsubaki didn't go all "Kazuki, kyah" either she were more, I want you all to decide. See what I mean they were all going Kazuki this, Kazuki that's why I say they lacked personality and I didn't feel much for them.
Kazuki was pretty plain if you ask me, the things he did and acted was the same at the end as in the beginning. He still thought the same about most things the only thing that seperated him from how he was at the start was that he knew more about the world and decided to follow Souchi which is more or less what he did from the start.
However I have to say I love the part when Soushi shows Kazuki his room, that was just funny.

The main diffrence with Kira and Kazuki is that Kazuki fought together with Soushi while if he were Kira he fought against Soushi. So there lies the biggest diffrence Kira didn't have "Souchi" by his side. And then the politcal things and that it was human vs human insteed of human vs aliens. He also didn't have the same support like Kazuki had, since Kira had to more or less fight alone and bear that burden alone. Kazuki had people who fought by his side. Then again that made Kazuki go through other problems then Kira did, such as when one died.

But I have to say I like the songs in fafner that Angela did, then again she also did the outro to another mech series Jinki Extend which was pretty ok a few minor things about it but ok.

Seems as if there aren't that much mech anime comming out next year or at least not that many so far, then again they might come out more in the fall then spring or something.

i guess because of those differences you mentioned eisen.. thats probably why they turned out to have different personalities...

okay, now to discuss fafner and to save kaykay .we must use the wonderful creation of spoiler tags!
canon was an interesting char... and if you think about it.. she did something unexpected..well actually not unexpected, we're probably used to seeing ppl do this in animes..but.. a complete 180 degree turn in personality ... goes from wanting to blow up the island and from order this to order that to..err.. well u get my point..^___^.. and yeah, assimilation phenomenon is really the opposite of SEED... but.. i said it looks like it.. i guess they're like the counterparts to each other.? one bad and one good? =D... and has anyone noticed? lacus's seed mode is now.. grey?!?!?! ..WTF!

Mistabean i almost fully agree with you on the characters, i believe that shouko if she lasted an episode more or so probably would've made more of an impact... but other than that, they pretty much did bring most characters to their potential... well most, not all.. kazuki's father by the end is still a character that hasnt changed one tiny bit... the kazuki's mother thing is a bit confusing.. but thats another discussion..

And yes they shoudl've killed off ALOT of people in Seed and GSD.. i mean, at the very least mwu should've stayed dead, andrew should've stayed dead, and kira should've either died at the end of seed or died in gsd.. same with athrun. Mwu's death was so good.. and they ruined it... because he was popular, they edited the helmet out of the specials and then proceeded to revive him... honestly now..

awwww come on now i wanna c spoilers pretty please?~! i usually know wat's going to happen anyways..member i'm psychic~!

well i just saw vol. 2 of fafner last night..or rather this morning but yea. so yea shoko dies...but it really didn't impact me that much.....i think it impacted me more after she was gone...like when ppl wrecked her grave...that was sad....but yea....and it's kinda obvious that all the characters are going to be picked off one by one...and all that remains will be like maya, kazuki, and soushi. so i'm not really looking forward to the "lets pick off the characters one by one" deal....it happens way to much in horror flicks so i think that's a flaw in the series...but who knows maybe i'm wrong~!

so far i'm puzzled about several things: why do the aliens always ask, "r u there?" ...and y would it be bad if some1 responded? ...that 1 lady authority chick seems to have other motives....but y? she seems as if she wants to get rid of all the crew members and just keep fafner in perfect condition. and that lil glowing red boy that looks like that red glowing girl....wat are they power sources or another version of an alien? ....kinda weird how that lil boy transforms into like a full grown man @ the end of one of the ep.

but yea i'm pretty sure in the next vol. koyo will die......and there lies the continuation of the characters being sacraficed one by one. oh!! i also wanna know wat's happening to their inside...they show the reports to the kids parents but they never say wat piloting the fafner is actually doing to them!!! ...is their chromosomes just rearranging or wat?~!

but yes...very puzzling indeed~!

Anyway, mistabean is right. The next episodes of Fafner explain that stuff a bit more and that is when it starts to get better. For an explanation of whats happening to them pay a good look at the scenes near the end of ep 10... although they do make it pretty obvious.

eisen (no peeking, Kay):
The reason some of the other characters compared themselves to Kazuki was not because heisKazuki, but to just some part of his character. Kenji is hellbent on beating him because he is the most physically adept and the best pilot on Tatsumiya, and he wants to prove his worth by defeating him. If someone else, say Mamoru was it, then he'd try to defeat Mamoru. Canon had a crush on him because of their encounter in ep 17, but eventually she did realize that in the end that really amounted to nothing and pretty much moved on with her life (ep 23). Kazuki is Soushi's best friend, although what Kazuki thinks is that he owes him an eye and that he should die to atone for it, and Maya, well.... she just likes him, just like Shouko did. Even if he is rather plain, he IS a nice guy. And although he did follow Soushi's lead all along there is an eventual change in motive. First he did it out of guilt, because he made Soushi unable to pilot Fafners, but then becuse he honestly wanted to protect the island. Although the action is more or less the same, its meaning is changed.

At least they didn't pull any Mu La Flaga's in Fafner. I also liked Mu's death scene and thought it was a good thing to do, althugh he was one of my favorite characters. Making him come back for GSD was, in my opinion, pretty dumb, but I could have accepted it if they had used him better. In the end he amounted to a windbag enemy who never did much in the first place and his re-birth as Mu was, in my opinion, poorly executed. It also annoyed the hell out of me that they made a big deal at the beginning about his "connection" with Rey and then completely forgot about it.

ok i'll stick with fafner if u guys promise that it'll pick up soon....it's not a bad series....but yea it's not so exciting that i'm eager to buy the next 30 dollar vol. if u know wat i mean....lol.

i think the reason y i'm sticking w/ it is cuz of the animation ( love it when they're in the FAfners...looks really kewlioz)...and cuz of the theme music...can't get enough of it~!

i hope that the characters pick up more personality and emotions as well...especially kazuki...he is afterall the main character...so i wish he would talk more and speak more openly u know? but i guess i must stick with it since all of u...ok most of u claim that it owns both GS, eva, and GW~! ...wow if u think about it..kinda hard to believe..lol.

just taking a stab @ this but i think the series will end in tragedy.

i can say one thing...they sure waste a lotta time w/ the recaps every ep...not to mention the ending song and credits seem to take up some time as well~!

I promise that it WILL pick up. The re-caps at the beginning eventually become more and more sporadic too, and there are absolutely NO recap episodes. And... I'll try not to discuss too much spoiler stuff... I've cracked under the curiosity before, so I know what it is like. Anyway, the next dvd should be pretty good too. Episode 10 is a lot of fun to watch, and it sets up the next acr pretty nicely.

Dammit... looks like nobody has picked up Right of Left yet... I really want to see that.

leo: Well it was shown only a day ago so you shouldn't expect it to be subbed so fast after it's shown. Besides it's almost new yar so some of the subbers might have something better to do then listen to all the people demanding this new ep of Fafner.

Yeah they had some resons here and there, but you get my point everyone was going Kazuki this and Kazuki that. I got sick of it stop japping about him alredy you know. I don't think Canon just went on with her life, it's more that she was adapting to her new life as well as exploring it then clinging to Kazuki. He wanted to protect them and that didn't change, it's not like he fought against festum at the beginning just out of loyalty he did it because he didn't want people to die. So the meaning of him fighting festum never changes he just wanted to protect them. What changed was his knowlage of the world and his understanding of Soushi they grew and the bond between them became stronger because of this. His actions and meaning for doing them still don't change. If he were really just doing this because he thought he owed Soushi he wouldn't have run away he would have stayed since running away with a fafner would be the same as betraying him.

Ohh you should deffinitly pick up Eureka 7!!! Scrap that you have to! Im with mistabean on this one, I made a mental note along time ago to try it out but forgot about it then mistabean reminded me about it so I did. The first 10 eps are kind of boring and don't lead to anything much but after that... In my opinion it's one of the best mecha series out there. It's way better then fafner, GS, Eva, GSD, GW, GX etc so far at least. The character have alot of peronality and here I can say I definitly feelt for the characters when things happened or got pissed at them. Im not sure about later on but it's shown so much promise right now so it's deffinitly worth looking up. I have great expectation of this series. Also it's not as concentrated on the fighting as it is on characters and story maybe that's why I like it.
Ohh yeah msitabean thanks if you hadn't said it would have gotten better I'd probably have dropped this one.

kay: Right or left is supposed to take place before the begining of fafner I think so all the character will be there.

man...now i'm really curious how fafner ends! i hope it's not one of those duddy endings that most animes have~! ..wait is it?!?! u guys don't have to tell me wat the ending is...just give me ur opinion if it was good or dissapointing (ie sucks!).

Right or left is a tv special that they showed today/yesterday in Japan.

Eureka 7 is that great, the reson why I like it is because it's well made. The characters are good and so is the story and it's quite concentrated on the story/characters. Unlike the other mecha series it's not heavy relying on action. There some in it but it can go with a couple of eps without any mecha fighting and action you know and the action is pretty well made no reused clips like GS/D have. There's also it's fair deal of mystery and stuff you don't quite understand. But most of all I like the mood in the anime or should I say the way they build things up and such. I don't think it'd intresst you that much kaykay at least not the first 2 vol if it gets licenced and released in the u.s that is. Like said it has a slow start that don't show much intresst it's later when the show really kicks off that you get into it. But this is definitly something worth to pick up once it does get licenced.

The ending of Fafner was good enoough for me, it didn't have a bad ending or anything like that and no corny "I see so he's the center of the universe" line. There are some things I might wonder over and didn't quite get but the ending was satisfying.

Oh, the ending of Fafner is pretty good. A great episode.
RoL is an OVA, I think a single episode. Probably hour long, but I honestly don't know. I was just looking for somebody saying"oh, we're subbing it", but that is uncommon until they actually do sub it. As eisen says Given the time of the year it is also understabdable that it will take a while because most people would probably prefer to sit down and realax than to sub anime. *shrug*. Time to wait.

Well, E7 ca hardly be worse than Gsd... it threw its own plot out the window. As long as E7 doesn't do that it is bound to be better.

i suppose it's worth checking out l8er.....but i looked on the review pg. and right when i viewed some of the pics. it seemed really unrealistic...don't get me wrong...that doesn't mean i don't like anime that's unrealistc..i just tend to like things that are more sensible..and characters that have blue hair and look somewat like aliens isn't really that realistic u know?

hey GG! @ least that corny ending is better than GSDs lame ending!! ..lol. woo whoo~! i'm happy that fafner's ending won't be a bumer then...i shall rely on ur opinions until i c it for myself..lol.

wow i didn't know Fafner was THAT new....but i suppose it is if japan just aired the ening or should i say the beg. to RoL~!

Yeah well I have to admit there are times that the animation bugs me, the way their face looks and such. But you shouldn't let that throw you off to much she's pretty much the only one with blue hair the rest are pretty normal. You can see a picture of the main character he's the one on the first picture. So see there are more normal people in it lol.
Then there's the fact that the mechs fly around on giant surfing boards but that's another issue. Even so like I said it's one of the better animes this year and without a doubt the best mecha anime this year. But like I said it might not be something that'll catch your eye. We do hae abit diffrent taste in anime after all, the only one I know we both really liked would be Chrno Crusade.

Hey at least they didn't have a corny line in the ending... wait... not as corny line would be more accurate some things they say are abit corny. But yeah it was better considering none of the main character on the good side got as much as a scratch on their MS. The only one would be Athuran and the only reson he got a scratch would be because he sent his backpack flying into a cannon. Other then that nothing, we even got a guy who blocks a hit from a mega cannon without as much as breaking a sweat. And like leo said GSD threw away their own plot out the window.

And actually fafner is from last year, they aired it in Japan last year anyway ended right before we went into 2005. They're only showing this prequal now for whatever reson they have. Either way all that remains is to wait and see if it's any good. Im not sure it's an hour long leo, maybe it is but so far I haven't seen anything mentioning how long it is, but it shouldn't be long now if we're lucky a subbed version might be out before the end of the year but I doubt it probably next week or so.

i guess they decided to finally release something to satisfy us.. i dont know, maybe there might be a fafner 2..? (please no... sequels usually turn out to be crap..)

anyway, eureka 7 huh.. i think i should go take a look at that sometime too...
and as for the fafner ova.. err.. i'm gonna wtach it when i wake up, i'm dling the raw.. it'd be nice if someone subbed it though... hey does anyone wanna sub it? i'm willing to time.. ^__^

anyway.. this is so wierd, we're tlaking about like 20 different series at once.. =p

GSD did throw their plot out the window, fi you look at the ratings it decreases over time if i remember.. less and less ppl watch as the show went on.. =p it started out decently.. but then freedom showed up, and...yeah lets not go any further into how shinn got a sudden demotion into a mini main character.. and how kira took over that role..

oh yeah, has anyone noticed what happened to IJ's backpack when he went to pick up shinn and luna? ... its got no backpack.. and i'm pretty sure it returend after the minerva. oh well...
