I apologise for insulting people - it was very late by England standards when I posted and I wasn't thinking so clearly. I got angry and posted back when I should have just let that kind of comment go. I earnestly regret placing the test image of the girls on an old Devart accunt, because it gave a very false impression of my work - those images I have done professionally cannot be posted online for legal reasons. It really is a site full of five min sketches and very old secondary school stuff. Once again I apologise for getting angry and making the 'tutor' comment.
The time and effort normally spent on a page of artwork (then sent to an inker, and onto colourists and type-setters) isn't really available to me on a webcomic, especially if I want to have more than one page up a week. Sadly a lot of the basics had to go, so I went for something sketchy in the idea that it would look a little dreamlike and 'bouncy'.
Well, 51 pages into the first chapter I now face a choice between starting again or living with it. Any suggestions? |

I know many artists who start over to revise their story, cut out uneeded parts, etc. I think its helpful. A group of us from school had to restart the entire script for one we're publishing later on this year. x_x
If you think its good keep going at it. Always room to improve though. Oh and it depends on your deadline. _________________ [img:194:68:40fea01228]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v53/HTMLka0s/ajbanner.jpg[/img:40fea01228] |

| well, Ii would have commented on the picture earlier, but I was too scared to post. Since the thread has cooled down I'll post my opinion. I think it is a style that he has that makes the character dispproportioned. He probally tried to emphasize different characteristics of the characters( for instance one would draw a big head if one wanted to show intelligence). Although I don't like the style, I still have to say it is weel drawned. |

The script is pretty satisfactory, it has a lot of humor mixed in with a truly heartfelt story. I've even managed to add extra little snippets of side-story as I've been going that round out additional characters. I essentially wrote the first three chapters up in novel and script format, then drafting the first chapter into line-art before working on the acrylic backgrounds. Chapter 1 alone is going to come to about 135 pages, but I had only completed upto 51 with backgrounds and layout.
A total redraw is gonna be a real pain in the ass. lol, maybe it would be easier to drop the project if it looks that bad. |

Personally, I like short oneshots better. ^^; It's good practice for big projects like a series. Plus, with oneshots you can try out different styles and not go completely all out but suddenly get a block in either script or art and loose interest. o_o _________________ [img:194:68:40fea01228]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v53/HTMLka0s/ajbanner.jpg[/img:40fea01228] |

| True, but the trouble with one shots is that you can't tell a story that convays any kind of depth or emotional impact. You are restricted in what you can portray. |

how about one-shots reusing your characters, keeping them in character of course but maybe putting them in a different world or sumth. These won't really be side stories because they'll have no connection whatsoever to your real plot. Unless...that's in your definition what side stories are. oops
but I agree about one-shots - it's really hard trying to fit a short story into one volume without going on and on. And there won't be much room for character build-up since one-shots are sorta stories where we gotta get straight to the point. |
