Venting about Vending Machines

I'm beginning to suspect snack companies put bugged vending machines around train stations just to steal your money...

Think about it, its the perfect set-up! You put the money in, and the machine either take your money but not recognise that you've put any in, or get as far as getting your packet of chips stuck half way! Just when you're about to call the owner of the machine, your train arrives, its either suck up your losses, or miss your train.

In fact, from what I've seen, most people won't even bother calling up, even if their train's not going to be there for another 10 minutes or so! They usually op for bashing the crap out of the machine, resulting in further frustration, a bunch of people staring at you, and not much else.

Its not like they in any danger of law-suits, I can't really imagine anyone taking them to court over a $2 bag of chips, and considering most people are too lazy to even call them up, a class action is un-bloody-likely.

(In case you're wondering, yes, a vending machine stole my money today :'()

well, vending machines are not very popular here....and they tried putting a couple in our school. i didn't personally try it but my classmate did. oh, it's a good vending machine; it gives you what you asked for and even added toppings:my friend bought a cup of milk and there was a clump of ants floating on it. gross! Mad

and another time(still same friend), bought milk and ended up getting only a cup. he took it out and wanted to complain but then the milk started pouring down. talk about self-service. hahaha:lol: from that experience, i wouldn't even give a vending machine a single glance.

and i agree with you....it's money stealer. we should make a petition to destroy all busted vending machine and should be replaced by new and more effective ones. and threaten them if they don't check it once in a while.....hehehe

my experience with vending machines weren't so bad except.....

1)They won't take my wrinkley dollar
2)Exact Change
3)Hitting the wrong button
4)Price atleast 0.5 times more
5)Buying a bag of chips having it fall into the vending compartment thus shattering the chips and then take the chips out and having them crushed again by the anti-stealing mechanism.
6)Beating the shit of the machine that didn't give me my 75 cent can of pepsi and getting like 5 coca colas.

I've had a lucky experience with a vending machine before. A dollar was stuck in the money slot with the person trying to pull it out. Eventually, the person got tired of pulling so left it there. Me, being the little punk I am, called over an attendant, lied and said it was my dollar. He opened up the machine, gave me a free iced tea and got out the dollar, giving me the other person's dollar too.

nice... i havent had any bad experience with vending machines realy
the worst is my chips getting stuck but then if you just ask the janitor
to help you they get it out for you O_o

lol i must admit.....vending machines are a pretty unique contraption.

we have them everywhere, especially @ school. funny thing is.......@ school they rarely work!!! u put in a dollar & it usually replies, "please use exact change" and they regurgatate the dollar bak up~! ....quite annoying. u use change......samething happens...so really it doesn't make any sense~!

wat probably bothers most ppl @ my school is that they cancelled the supply of soda. so now u can either by water, or gaderaid, fuit drinks. Well it's quite hard to buy these drinks when they're either are all sold out do to limited supply or bcuz the machines do not work~!

in short, vending machines are handy.....but only if they work..lol.~!

Yeah...and then there is the part where it does work fine. ANd then comes this dummy in front of you and tries to sorta budge some cans out of it. They get their pop or not...either way they mess up the machine...and then you can't get your drink. Cool

That's quite a way to get annoyed.

I really hate those spinny ones where the bag gets stuck half way then you hit it and nothing happens so you walk away then it falls and someone else gets it. Although sometimes you get lucky and your the person who finds stuff in there

Those vending machines that has spinning spiral metal racks are the worst. Those things may have the slot door stuck which causes your chips to slide away into some kind of oblivion. Or sometimes the spiral spins half way and the candy or chip doesn't fall out of the rack. Both of those happened to me before.
It's really annoying, if there were no people around it, I'd jump kick the machine. (I've never done that before)

the thing is to have a friend who doesnt care about other people's strange stares. My friend is this type of person. last time i looked, the scoreboard was :
James - 5; vending machine - 0
and twice he managed to hurt the thing enough that it spewed out the rest of its lemonade. Those days we returned home with our bags packed with cans Very Happy

but then the station got an attendent to fix the machine

i dont know if you'll consider this one......i had a good experience with one phone booth. i was in a hurry tocall up my helper and get my notebook(tht i left in the house) and bring it to me. i then dropped P2 coins and started dialing. it wouldn't work. when i hung up, it gave me back my coins and do it again. on the 3rd unsuccesful try, i got so agitated that i pressed(hard) the buttons randomly and slammed the damn receiver. guess what! cha ching. coins came out the slot. about 10 pieces of P50 coins. and it was already a fortune for a little kid like me. forget about the notebook, i'll just buy myself a snack. hehehe Laughing

grrr gawd! i hate that! there are many vending machines at where i work and sometimes the machine will rip me off of my $1 on either the gatorade or chips. many times that has happened. one time the machine gave me the wrong flavor of gatorade. as for the snack vending machine, many times that my food was still stuck in those rings. i would leave a note to the damn machine to let whoever knows that collects the $ that it cheated me. i even called the 1-800 number on the machine for any "problems or concerns" and when i complained about their crappy machine, they give me another # to call, and when i call that other number, they tell me to call the previous # back and so on.........so yeah, i do believe they put bugged machines to rip people off! Mad
