some of the older thumbdrives require software to be installed, which thumbdrive do you have anyway? _________________ [img:387:120:36cb7a5440]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v98/idjota/BL.jpg[/img:36cb7a5440] |

Have you checked with other devices and see whether your USB slot has not malfunctioned? _________________

i had a USB memory stick from Sandisk
it had some of the same issues.
i spent 3 hours on the phone with their tech support, didn't do any good in the end
ended up that it had corrupted sectors in it, i returned and got a new one of the exact same size and model
it worked fine then _________________ [img:500:184:c0d8dc4eaa]http://kontek.net/LizardDude/ManagerSig20bacon.jpg[/img:c0d8dc4eaa] |

OK, after you plugged in your jumpdrive, go to Control Panel>>Administrative Tools>>Computer Management and then click "Disk Management. See whether it is detected there. If it is not, then there is something wrong with your jumpdrive. _________________

| I'm not sure, but it could probably be that your usb drive isn't 2.0. Thumbdrives don't slow down their speeds to work for 1.0 like the external devices do. Maybe buy a new drive and installing it? |

| It should work even if the port is USB1.1 Going to Disk Management would be the next step I would take. Could be that you need to format it or assign a drive letter to it. |
