what makes you buy a game?

What makes me want to buy a game is about 2 or so hours of research into it to find out if I'd like it. I never pick randomly.

Honestly... I will look at the publisher/developer first... then come to the genre.. Cool

i look at publishers such as konami or capcom, then the style of the game, storyline, genre. if it passes all those tests i will try to hire the game and test it out before buying it.

Generally, for me, the game just has to be fun. I usually pick up anything Final Fantasy or Street Fighter... or novelty like Parappa the Rapper or Rez or even Katamari Damacy.

If it's cheap enough, I just buy a game for the sake of collection.

Otherwise, for me to buy a game without ever having played it, I go by credibility of developer.

For example:
I bought~

Castlevania: Nocturne in the Moonlight
Chrono Trigger
Metal Gear Solid

The day they came out without batting an eye.

Even now, with PS3 and X-Box 360 out, I probably won't pick up either system, until the release of MGS4, Gran Turismo V, Blue Dragon, and Lost Odyssey.

I'll go for a game if I like the look of it, I've heard good things about it often if I've seen it in action and should I, by some miracle, actually have the money to buy it!

Seeing as how I'm a cheap a55 n*99@ I let X-play do my filtering plus I have a GC so my choice is kinda limited

i never really intend to but games, it's more of a spur of the moment type thing, if i walk into i store and see a game i want, i won't let go of it, and i end up buying it, but i have to rent it first.

my main reason for buying a certian game is the feeling i get when i look at the cover and the screenshots of the game, or if a friend says it's a great game

I look for adventure, action and rpg games, then read the reviews at the back then the price.

I would first browsing the whole games, and then I'll read the back cover to determine whether it's in Japanese or English...
For me, I'll search for RPG games first, then Action and Adventure...
Friend also play an important role here, when my friend says this or that game is great, then I'll be attract to buy that game...
